This is so weird. I don’t know if I’m weird (no response needed!) <G> of if weird things happen to me or if I notice weird things and report on them but . . last night, 9:37 to be exact, I went out with Oscar. He had already done his major “business” outside about 7 but he was so wild, we put him in the enclosed area and he wasn’t happy. When he wants to go outside, he rattles the gate. He started rattling the gate about 8 so I thought maybe he needed to go out so I took him. He chased leaves and picked up sticks and came back inside. Then a little after 9, he did the same thing. I told Vince . . I’m taking my phone out with me and I can use the flashlight if he does poop and make sure it looks ok because maybe he has a belly ache.
I never take my phone outside with me when I go out with Oscar . . that’s probably really only the first or second time I’ve done it ever in two years. We have outside lights on the corners of the house and on the corners of the porch so when I go out, I flip those on (and too often forget to flip them off when I walk back inside) so I don’t really need a flashlight out there.
I had just stepped out onto the patio and the power went out. What were the chances of me having the phone outside with me at the exact moment the power went out? Weird!
I went ahead and took Oscar around the yard using the flashlight on the phone. I didn’t hear anything but I could see that there were no lights anywhere! Usually when our power goes out, which happens more than I think it should, I can see lights on several streets from here or up on a hill nearby. It was pitch black out there – no lights anywhere.
We were watching the football game so Vince wasn’t happy! I couldn’t cross stitch but my first thought was to take a shower before the water got cold in the water heater.
When I got out of the shower, Angie had texted me to see if we had power. I received her text but couldn’t respond. We sat here for about an hour waiting for the power to come on. Jeremy texted Vince that over 4,000 customers were without power due to an 18 wheeler turning over and taking out some power poles. They were making sure we knew what was happening and were ok . . always taking care of us. I doubt they were expecting to have to take care of the “old folks” when they sold this house! 🙂
After a while, Vince remembered that one of the Bluetti portable power stations was charged so he went and got that, plugged in the modem and router and we had internet. Thankfully the phone and computer were charged.
The news online said an 18 wheeler took out some power poles, turned over, caught fire . . it was hauling 25,000 pounds of groceries. Someone on FB said the drive stated he was hauling chicken (I think processed, not live). The news also said the driver had minor injuries. Whew . . could have been a lot worse.

Have you ever thought that as we age, it is so funny – what it takes to make our days interesting!! LOL!! Did you ever think, “All it would take is the electric to go off, to have a whole blog post to make!” 🙂
My grandson spending the day would do the same for me! Or pretty much anything that happens out of the ordinary…. It really doesn’t take much to keep us happy these days! 🙂

Probably but I think I’ve pretty much always written about every little thing that happened in my life. I suppose that comes from not living a very exciting life. 🙂

Do you have rechargeable light bulbs? They are great.

We do like the light bulbs but for the past few years, our favorites are these little lanterns. We keep those in every room and keep them charged. They hang or sit, are easy to carry around. You push the top down to close them and you can push the top halfway down if you don’t want quite as much light as they’re putting out. One of those is plenty for even our family room. I went to take a shower and grabbed the one out of the bathroom closet and it provided plenty of light, even with it sitting on the vanity and the shower curtain being closed.
I’m happy with the light bulbs or the lantern . . just give me some light! 🙂

Nifty little lanterns. Might have to get a few to keep around, as we lose power in storms on the top of the hill a couple of times a year, or more. Thanks.

We love them. We have those little banks (I forget what they’re called) that will charge phones and tablets. It was funny because yesterday morning, I looked at my tablet and it was 50% charged. I thought . . it’s good, I won’t charge it today but then I thought . . you never know what will happen so I put it on the charger. My phone, that I use all the time for taking pictures, looking up stuff, messages, had been at 20% twice during the day and I would plug it in for a while, then need it and unplug it, use it, forget to plug it back in, remember later, plug it back in and it never got much of a charge. So when the power went off, that was the first thing I thought about . . my phone is almost dead. I grabbed one of those little battery banks, plugged it in and it was 75% charged by the time the power came back on.
