There’s a new SAL starting on January 15 or 16 to commemorate Brenda’s birthday . . . Brenda of Brenda and the Serial Starter fame. The chart we’re using is Martha Evans 1879, which can still be ordered. The linen is Hemmingway by Needle & Flax and it may be hard to find right now.
I do not have the called for fabric because . . how will I ever use any of my linen if I keep ordering called for fabrics? That’s discipline, right? 🙂
The linen on my screen is the called for linen at Hobby House Needleworks but they do seem to be out of it. You can also see it at Needle & Flax and they seem to be out of it.
If you look at the photo of the chart at Colorado Cross Stitcher, I don’t think the linen is as dark as it appears in the photos. There are some birds near the top and they hardly show up. It could be that there’s more mottling in that area but I don’t think I want my fabric to be as dark as that one is. Remember . . we can use any fabric we want and it doesn’t even have to be close to the called for fabric so I’m not trying to match my fabric perfectly to the called for fabric.
I’ll be using Victoria Clayton Silks and they are shown above. The fabric on the left is X Ju Designs’ Rustic Driftwood. The fabric on the right is Fox & Rabbit’s Up in the Attic.
I’m pretty sure I’ll go with Up in the Attic. I think the colors will show up better. I could still change my mind. Any thoughts??
