Not Oscar, though left unattended in the yard, I’m sure he would be a digger . . that’s the nature of a dachshund.
It’s Vince. He loves digging and playing in the dirt. He never minded tilling up an area for me in the garden in Texas. He’s always happy to work an area for a new flower bed, or prepare a bed for moving asparagus.
Look at that pile of dirt/rocks? The ground here is so rocky!
Jeremy had told us there was French Drain around the front and two sides of the house and a drain on both the north and south sides but we had never seen the drain for the south side. Jeremy came over and kinda showed Vince where he remembered it being so Vince started out digging near the patio (last photo) and found the drain pipe. The second picture is a hole he dug looking for the end of the pipe. He didn’t find it but he will.
Vince is sore today from digging and dealing with all the rocks so my guess is that he may fill in the holes he doesn’t need but I don’t think he’ll be digging any more today. He’s determined to find the end of that French drain.

I’m curious if Vince buries the rocks again or if he leaves them out and refills with only soil.

He does not bury the rocks. A neighbor has a good bit of land and a tractor and he comes over and loads them up and takes them to backfill along a creek.

We feel Vince’s pain! Last fall we took out our grass on the park strips and did a lot of digging! And then we had to fill with wood chips so more shoveling! We kept telling ourselves that people pay money to get that kind of work out! 🙂
