Here it is 6 p.m. and I had to check my phone to see what day of the week it is. I thought it was Tuesday but surely didn’t want to put Tuesday in the title if that isn’t right!
We’ve both been busy this entire day.
The first thing I did was chop the bell peppers, onions and celery for canning red beans, sausage and ground beef tomorrow.
It wasn’t even daylight yet when I finished all that. I think it’s weird how bright the lights my kitchen are but if it’s dark outside, the kitchen seems dark – especially in pictures.
I took out 6 pounds of ground beef, 3 pounds of sausage, which I think is the last of my sausage from Louisiana, and that will all stay in the fridge overnight. Later tonight I’ll put the beans on to soak. Tomorrow I’ll get the beans to simmering, cook the ground meat, fry the sausage, fill up the jars and get more beans canned. Yum!
Last night I stirred up the dough for English muffins and added dried cherries and walnuts.
There was one little bitty one from the leftover pieces of dough and I had to eat that one . . just to test it, right? These English muffins don’t last long at our house.
Yesterday the radon guy was here all day. I didn’t think he would be here so long but it was getting dark and I knew he and Vince were getting hungry again so I made Monte Cristo sandwiches and that finished off our bread. I should have made more today but just didn’t have time. I don’t know if I’ll bread made tomorrow or not . . depends on how tired I am dealing with the beans.
Since Addie’s Barbie dollhouse went to a friend for her 6 year old daughter, there’s a bit of extra room in there. I was thinking maybe I could put a chair in there and do some of my stitching in there since I could close the door and keep Oscar confined. We only have the TV downstairs. Since I totally dislike TV, both of us being in the basement has not been something Vince has enjoyed because he loves watching action type shows/movies.
Wait . . there is another TV. Vince just bought one for his “office/exercise room”, which is the third bedroom on the main level. There’s our room and Addie’s room. His office room is full . . of stuff . . kinda like my sewing room.
Anyway, I before Oscar came along, I would sit and stitch in the sewing room and Vince could watch TV in the family room but with Oscar, there’s too much stuff in the sewing room and Boots would not love anything about having Oscar in there.
I mentioned to Vince that if I got a comfy chair, I might enjoy sitting in Addie’s room and stitching. Oscar could be in there with me. I’d be closer to the kitchen and laundry room. I’ve been enjoying watching flosstube videos on the TV so Vince jumped on that idea. “Let’s get a TV and put in Addie’s room!” He found one at Walmart, ordered it and it was going to be ready to pick up curbside tomorrow but then I got an email that it was ready. I think Vince is ready for some alone time with his TV downstairs so he said “Let’s go pickup the TV!” so we did that.
We had the propane guys out. Vince filled our small cylinders last week and I told him Friday I could smell propane. He told me a bit of it stays in the line after he fills the tanks. The smell wasn’t strong and I didn’t always smell it. Then Sunday I was out and I told him I could smell it again and asked him to check it again. He checked it and, of course, he didn’t smell anything. When I went out yesterday morning, I came back in and told Vince there was something wrong with his sense of smell. There was definitely a hint of propane so he called his friend who works for the propane company and he was off but said someone would come out yesterday or today. I don’t think Vince believed there was anything wrong but he was ready for me to stop hounding him so he called the experts.
Yesterday the radon guy was walking around and he stopped and said “PROPANE! I smell propane!” Vince was able to say “They’ll be here tomorrow. I’ve already called them.” It ended up being a valve and the guy was able to get it shut off but said if it keeps happening, they’ll have to change it and that means draining the tank. Ughh . . always something.
I think tomorrow we have a day with no one coming here to do anything. We do have to go to town. Vince needs some parts from Home Depot and I need a couple of things from Hobby Lobby. I asked him if we could go early so I could get back and get those beans started before I run out of steam.
That’s about it for today . . no stitching yet but Oscar is asleep in my chair so if he will stay calm, I should be able to get a couple of hours of stitching in.

Curious if you 2 still discuss “leave the house once/month”????

We discuss it every day. I’ve given up . . Vince can go out as often as he likes so long as I stay home. I am ok with going out once a week but lately it’s been things we have to go out for – medical appointments, bloodwork, picking up something Vince needs for a project around the house.

I’m glad you’re sticking to your guns. It was making you miserable (as it would me).
Cheers!
