In anticipation of trying to order only things I really need in 2023, I did a little shopping before the end of the year. This is probably all I have coming. It arrived yesterday and I was pretty lucky. There was no mail delivery but I guess they delivered packages. I looked out the front window to see what the weather was doing and saw the packages on the porch. They would either have stayed there all night or Vince would have found them. Yes, it was good that I found them. 🙂
The first order is from XJu Designs.
Top Row (L to R): 40 count Light Nougat, 40 Count Marbled Pointer, 40 Count Sampler Khaki
Middle Row (L to R): 40 count Early Halloween, 40 count Old Mushroom, 40 count Ash Rose
Bottom Row (L to R): 46 count Marbled Hazelnut, 46 count Frozen Leaves
These were all charts I had wanted for a while and decided I’d better get them before January 1.
Quaker Pumpkin by Hello from Liz Matthews. I’ve liked this before but then I saw one that someone had stitched and at the bottom, they changed the words to say Autumn Harvest and it has a couple of leaves. I really like that and might be able to get this stitched before Fall.
A Yuletide Welcome by Plum Street Samplers. I had not bought this chart before because of the size but now that I’ve been stitching longer, the size doesn’t intimidate me. It’s only 18-1/2″ x 9-1/2″ on 36 count (called for) and 16-5/8″ x 8-5/8″ on 40 count. Maybe I’ll stitch it on the new Marbled Hazelnut 46 count and it would only be 14-1/2″ x 7-1/2″.
Summer Schoolhouse Set of Four by With Thy Needle. I’ve liked these for a long time but never felt sure I’d stitch them all. I think I will so I got those.
OK . . no more shopping for me.

Lovely fabrics and charts! I’m waiting on an order from XJu Designs, two pieces of 36ct. I had ordered some before and they were lovely so I decided to order before the year ended….lol Speaking of large patterns…yesterday I was looking at And A Forest Grew and was reminded of the size…I still haven’t decided what fabric but I’m looking at 32 or 36ct so it will be very wide. I had thought about putting it in the scroll frame but wowee!! I will need longer extensions, so we’ll see. I love sewing in hand and I can’t quite get the rhythm when something is in a frame even when I loosen it. Perhaps it’s just more practice.

I can’t speak for how it would work for you but when I first went from stitching in hand to the scroll frame, I hated it and every day I wanted to go back to stitching in hand. After about a week of stitching every day in the frame, I now prefer that to stitching in hand. In fact, I was working on a small piece and ended up sewing scrap fabric to the ends so I could put it in a frame. So, my unsolicited advice is give it some time and while doing it, don’t go back to stitching in hand for a least a week.

Summer Schoolhouse – I’ve got those charts and have been trying to figure out how I want to stitch them – likely all in one piece – but need to pull them out to figure out what adjustments I will need to make. Gorgeous fabrics you got!

I just saw on Kim Goldman’s year end recap that she has all of them stitched together on her wall. That was so pretty!

I haven’t watched that one yet – I’ll have to check it out.

Beautiful choices! Been wanting the Summer Schoolhouse series for a while now, maybe later this year depending on my Wip progress. Adding the Hazelnut from xJu to my wish list, so pretty. Is your Marbled Pointer true to the photo? The piece I have is very gold.

The first Marbled Pointer I got was very gold. Now it seems more tan/pale yellow.
