I’ve made a fair amount of progress on Eloquent Christmas.
Here’s where I was on it on December 27:
Here’s where I was on it when I stopped working last night (December 29).
I probably won’t have much time to work on it today but it is on my 12 in 12 for New Year’s Eve projects.
As much as I love stitching in hand, I think my work looks neater and more uniform when stitched in a frame.

..I know you started with using hoops & frames, but were concerned about your speed of stitching. Then you started using the sewing method, which I think is easier with hand held projects. But, are you still using the sewing method with the frame? The fabric in the picture looks more relaxed and not secured tightly, which should allow for the faster method.
Since I restarted cross stitching, I have been doing smaller projects which are easier to hand hold. And, I have been using only Aida fabric. But, my order for three patterns should be arriving today, so I need to decide if I try using a frame for one of them. And, the nice postlady just dropped the package by my door!
And one kit I ordered has linen fabric – what a difference in feel – and I now see the issues with the fabric being square, and it is large enough that I need to find my frames or acquire some new ones. I also see the need to get that ruler-like tool to help with dealing with the DMC floss. I see some organizing time coming up!

Yes, I still use the sewing method in the frame if I have large areas of one color to stitch but for the most part, I use two hands to stitch in the frames. Not sure why the fabric looks more relaxed because it’s very tight in the frame. I don’t like it being relaxed in a frame or hoop. I think keeping the fabric tight is what is making my stitches look better.
I think the initial aggravation to my hand happened using a larger piece and holding onto so much so tightly but now that it’s not quite right, even small pieces hurt my left hand. In fact, I’ve been pulling the needle up with my left hand using my index and middle finger (holding the needle between them near the tips and trying not to use my thumb so much.
That ruler for putting DMC on floss drops is something I would hate to have to live without.
