It’s funny – for so many of my younger years, New Year’s Eve was all about the party. Now it’s all about staying home and trying to keep Vince awake til midnight. Something else that’s funny . . he always says at 11:00, he’s celebrating and going to bed because at 11:00 our time, it’s New Year’s in New York. I tell him it isn’t the new year til it’s midnight where we are but as I’m thinking about the 12 x 12 projects, I’m thinking I’ll time so I’m done at 11 because it will be New Year’s Day in New York by then. 🙂
I’m so good at bending the “rules” to suit my needs and wants.
I am thinking I’m going to start stitching about 10 a.m. and still til 11:00 a.m. on Project #1, which will probably be the Christmas letters since all the supplies are out. I’ll stop at 11, take a picture, post a quick blog post, put it all away, take Oscar for a walk, play with him a few minutes and start project #2 about 11:30, stitch on it til 12:30, then take a picture, make a quick blog post, play with Oscar a bit and start project #3 about 1:00, stitch til 2:00, then heat up leftovers for our meal, eat, take Oscar out, and get back to stitching by 3:00.
At that rate, it will probably be midnight or later when I get finished with the hour on Project #12.
This morning I made English muffins and English muffin bread (which I never photographed), and fixed breakfast.
That picture – that’s why I’d rather eat at home than go out.

I’ve been sorting through knitting patterns today, and I think I could do a 12 in 12 with knitting projects. The only thing stopping me is I have at least 12 knitting projects in progress and I think starting another 12 would stress me out. Maybe instead, I should pull out all the WIP’s and work on each one for a while on New Year’s Eve. Hmmm.

I used to do the New Year’s Eve thing but I don’t anymore. I might be up that late. It’s almost midnight tomorrow in an island in New Zealand that celebrates the new year first. That’s good enough for me. I usually see the video of the celebration in Sydney. Don’t tell Vince though.

The English Muffins look amazing – do you ever share your recipes? As to cross stitch and floss – I am astonished at how you are able to keep so many projects in rotation. I tried to have more than one (3 to be honest) going this year but I became frustrated over floss. When you pull floss for so many projects how do you do it? Do you have multiples of skeins so that each project is assigned its own skein? For 98% of my stitching I use DMC and over the years I have accumulated multiples but I try to keep that to a minimum for storage reasons. Would love your thoughts. Happy New Year, whichever time zone you choose to celebrate in.

We used to celebrate with friends on New Year’s Eve with an appetizer party and then end at 10 when it was New Year’s on the east coast…lol It was perfect! We didn’t stay up late too much back then but now we typically do. I’m almost ready and have one last minute new kit to prepare. Yesterday I made a mad scramble to Hobby Lobby to pick up a few skeins I had somehow missed. Not sure what time I will start but likely before noon.

This from the internet- I don’t know what to wear to the front room for New Year’s Eve. I might not even go.

Those homemade English muffins look so good!! I enjoy reading about all your cooking adventures. Can I come and eat at Judy’s Kitchen? It could easily become my favorite eating place. I, too, love to cook, but have only made English muffins once and they didn’t look like yours. We could cook up a storm together.
