As you know, Chad, Nicole and Addie came over for most of the day. They left about 5:00 and we are all exhausted – especially little Oscar!
We’ve given up on keeping him downstairs. He’s going to be wherever I am so I just carry him up when I go if I’m going to be up there for a while. If I’m going up to switch clothes from the washer to the dryer and come back, I don’t take him but he’s pretty much beating us at the game of keeping him downstairs when he doesn’t want to be downstairs. We have a crate downstairs and upstairs but he doesn’t like to go in them unless he knows we’re leaving so . . he comes upstairs more than I prefer. I worry about the wood floors. I worry about him getting into something. It’s going to take a while for me to get everything dog proof. I also worry that someone will come to the door and one of us will open the door without thinking about him being up there.
He stayed upstairs except when we sat down to eat and then Vince brought him down and put him in the crate and Oscar must have been so tired because he was quiet while we were eating, which means he was sleeping.
He and Addie played so hard . . non-stop. Several times I heard Chad say “Addie, Oscar needs to rest. Sit down for a few minutes so he’ll stop.” They ran and played chase. Addie threw his ball and he fetched. While opening presents, we’d all make our paper into balls and there would be three or four balls flying at once and Oscar didn’t know which way to go first. He loves being the center of attention. Nicole and Chad had fun playing with him. Vince mentioned something about wanting to move and Addie said “We’re keeping Oscar!” Chad or Nicole one said “We’d be glad to take Oscar.” WAIT!! Who thinks I would go anywhere without Oscar?
They left, Vince and I came downstairs with Oscar and within minutes, he was in my lap sleeping and hasn’t moved a muscle. I’m just hoping he doesn’t sleep til about 10 p.m. and then become a crazy dog again.

Wonderful story! So glad your day was a great one. Oscar’s too. I feel like he will stay asleep once he gets there!

He has! It’s supposed to start sleeting here soon and get icy so I woke him up, took him out and he was full of energy for about 5 minutes and now he’s back asleep.
