It is so pretty outside. The sun is shining and the snow is glistening. For the most part, it hasn’t thawed and turned into ice and it’s still powdery and fluffy where it hasn’t been shoveled. I can hear snow shovels scraping driveways and walkways all over the neighborhood.
Currently it’s 10 degrees and feels like +2. What a difference a day makes! Hard to believe that 10 degrees is actually very cold but feels quite warm after the last two days. Our highs Sunday and Monday are supposed to be 31 and 32 with a bit more snow but then the highs go up into the 50’s with one day being in the 60’s. According to Accuweather, we don’t drop below freezing again til January 8 and that’s a nighttime low of 28. We can live with that.
Vince had shoveled about a 4′ x 40′ path for the dogs and after two days of two dogs using it, he’s out doing cleanup. Oscar loves to go to the far corner of the back yard so it’s been an effort to get him to stay on the cleaned path and do what he needs to do. Last night it felt like -28. I took him out about 8 p.m. and nope, he wanted to go running across about 4″ of snow to his favorite spot. I wouldn’t let him and I finally gave up and took him back inside. About 11, Vince was fixing to go to bed so he took him out and nope, he wanted to go to the far corner so Vince gave up and brought him back in. I went to bed about 1:30 a.m. and I thought . . you are not waking me at 2 a.m. wanting to go out! So, I went outside one last time and I think he was pretty happy to do it and get it over with.
OK . . now you know all about Oscar’s bathroom adventures. Sorry!

Sounds like one of my cats. One makes the transition from going outside to using the litter box when the weather is bad just fine. The other one is the stubbornest cat I’ve ever seen. Even when it’s not all that cold it takes at least 3 tries to get him out to do his job. These last few days has been a trial. He sits by the door and howls he needs to go so bad. Eventually he either has to go out or use the litter box. You’d think it would kill him to use it the way he acts!!
Wishing you and Vince a Merry Christmas!
