We were kinda lucky because the milk man comes about 5:30 on Friday mornings. We have to put the jars out and pay him and he’s in a hurry so I’d never want him to have to wait on us to get up so I’m always afraid I’m not going to be awake so I wake up and look at the clock several times during Thursday night. Vince always wakes up before the alarm goes off at 5 a.m., but . . what IF he doesn’t?
Yesterday the milk man called about 2 p.m. and asked if it was ok if he came by during the afternoon with the milk instead of delivering it early this morning. We were fine with that and I had a box of pralines for him so tonight I won’t wake up worrying about not being up on time.
Oscar was excited about the snow when he first went out but once the “feel like” temp got down to about -25, Oscar wasn’t happy at all about going out. Vince took him out towards the end of the evening and got him to do what needed to be done.
It was funny because about 9 last night, I went up to knead some English Muffin dough. Oscar stayed downstairs with Vince. After a while (maybe 10 minutes), Vince hollered up and asked me if I was almost done. He said Oscar was starting to panic because I wasn’t downstairs. What?? Another 5 minutes and Vince and Oscar came upstairs. You would have thought he hadn’t seen me in a week (Oscar . . not Vince!). He ran with all the speed he could muster and parked himself right between my feet and the cabinets. I took a step, he took a step. Vince got one of his fetch toys and threw it to him to try to get him to play and Oscar grabbed it and went right back under my feet.
We’re going to have to work on that separation anxiety. That’s hard on both of us and I don’t want him to be that way.
Today it’s going to be colder than yesterday, more wind, lower chill factor, but no snow. Then it warms up and Wednesday it’s going to get up to 61. I won’t be complaining about that!

Emmi girl has separation anxiety, has for years but she misses both of us. It makes it hard to leave her for any period of time.

It’s -5 here with a wind chill of -29! It takes no time at all for the dogs to do their business. LOL
This is going to be a ‘pajama’ day for us – don’t plan on leaving the house.

You don’t want to hear the temperatures and wind chills that it has been here in SD. Let’s just say that the real temperature is supposed to warm up to -9. Days like this make me wonder why someone originally from Texas is in SD.

I’m sure there are all kinds of reasons but right now, it probably is hard to figure out. I know it’s been miserably cold there and I think about that when I complain about our cold.

I understand, but I do have lots of giggles teasing my relatives in Texas. When it is cold, everyone has permission to complain. I never thought that I would live in cold country until I got a job here in the 90’s. I gave the locals plenty of laughs trying to learn how to deal with cold weather. We warmed up to -1 today. Merry Christmas!! Thanks to you and Jo Kramer for all the blessing you have brought to my life.
