The minute Oscar hears my recliner go back, he’s in the chair with me.
If one of us isn’t in the floor playing with him, or he isn’t in his bed sleeping, he’s sitting in the chair with me. Speck always sat beside me but either this chair is not as wide as the recliner in Texas or . . either Oscar or myself is wider . . ok . . let’s not talk about that.
But, him sitting towards the foot of the recliner is better than him actually sitting in the chair beside me. It gives both of us more room and when I start to get up, I hold onto Oscar and put the bottom of the chair down slowly so it’s more like a little ramp for him and he isn’t jumping down.
It took a year for him to spend quality time sitting with me and it may take another year before he stops chewing everything and acting like a crazy dog. We both enjoy him so much.

and I love your posts with pictures of Oscar. He is such a beautiful animal and so lucky to have a good home. We used to have so many strays in this area. It’s heartbreaking to see thsoe strays along side roads. Our last two dogs were strays who came here scared and starving. They were both pure breeds, too. and so intelligent and loving. It gives me such joy to see Oscar all warm, happy, and well loved.

Both Rita and Boots came as strays. We also had a feral that I tried to tame, and almost did, when we were in Texas. The people who bought the house were happy to keep her. I would pick up every stray on the side of the road, and adopt every dog from the shelter if it were up to me. Thankfully, Vince has a sense of reason that I seem to be lacking when it comes to animals.
