I wish I had been able to reach my camera without disturbing Oscar but last night . . it was what I’ve dreamed about doing with him.
He’s gotten to where after we play for a while and he gets tired, he’ll hop up on my chair and sit on the bottom (the foot part) of the recliner. Last night Oscar was sleeping by my feet. He and my feet were covered with a warm blanket. I was getting sleepy so I leaned my recliner back, picked him up and put him on my chest, kinda like how you’d lay back with a baby. I had him covered snug in that blanket. He slept for over an hour. I was loving every minute of it.
Vince said “He’s really become a mama’s boy in the past couple of weeks.” When Vince comes down to play with Oscar, he gets under the feet of my chair . . like he’s protecting me and will hardly play with Vince. Vince keeps telling me “You’ve ruined that dog!” I told him . . Oscar doesn’t care who’s giving him attention but whomever it is giving him the most attention, that’s who he’s going to go to first. I reminded Vince that a million times I’ve said “I want a dog I can snuggle with!” I didn’t set out to “ruin” Oscar but I am so happy to be getting a little more lap time with him.
He is still 100% wild most of the day but . . he’s going to calm down. I see it more every day.

Our first doxie, Emmie Lou was supposed to be mine but no she’s my husband’s. She gets mad when one of the other two gets in his lap before her. She pouts. The second doxie, we got, Brutus Beefcake will lay with you but prefers a chair where he can stretch out. The third Rave is my girl. If I sit down, she’s right there to hop in chair and snuggle beside me until she gets hot, then down and back up after she’s cooled down. Emmie is the only one that likes to be covered. The other two would rather make a nest out of their throws. They all are from same parents with Emmie from first litter and Brutus and Raven from second.

Happy Birthday to Oscar and so happy that he’s turning into the snuggle bunny you wanted! They bring so much joy to us!

Love, love, love, my doxie Millie. She turns 2yo this month. Still a bit of a wild child but so very sweet. We also have a yellow lab and they are best friends. She nips at his legs and he mauls her with his mouth. They take off chasing each other and Millie can out run our lab! So fast!!

Maybe we’ll get a small rescue . . small but larger than Oscar some day. Not sure Vince would ever agree to having two dachshunds at the same time but . . I thought he’d never agree to one so we’ll see.
