This sweet, energetic, destructive little escape artist is one year old today!
The good news is that he’s 100% house trained and never has accidents in the house. Also, he’s a good sleeper. He even slept til almost 6 this morning.
Yesterday Vince and I were talking and I said “He isn’t slowing down nearly as much as I had hoped.” Vince said “I’m not sure he’s slowed down any!” I said “At least he has a good personality!” Vince said “He is the funniest dog ever.”
A blog reader, Cilla, who knows more about dachshunds than I’ll ever know said that because he’s a male; he’s shorthaired and he’s a piebald, he’s going to be two years old before he slows down. So, now the countdown to two years old begins! 🙂
We love this little guy. He has brought so much laughter and entertainment to our lives, along with a few bad words and aches and pains from sitting on the floor, trying to get up and chasing him down at times. He is the most entertaining dog we’ve ever had. I keep telling him that it’s a good thing we got him because someone else may have returned him.
We’ll spend some extra time with him today, we’ll sing Happy Birthday to him. He has a few extra treats and a couple of new toys. I’m pretty sure he will not know it’s his birthday but I’ll be celebrating his birthday and the fact that we got him.

Happy Birthday to Oscar and a huge Well Done to you both surviving the first year and having the patience to train him. He’s a clever wee thing and it’s great that he makes you both laugh. Maybe by the time he’s 2 he will sleep a lot more. My 2 wee dogs now go to bed on their own accord and will sleep through till morning, 12 hours straight!! They even go back to their beds for a morning nap! They are alert as soon as they hear Michael up and about and then the fun begins, chasing each other around the house, absolute bedlam , but so much fun. In fact the more we laugh the dafter they become. Would not be without them, so glad we rescued them as puppies. Looking forward to hearing all about Oscar’s antics. Happy Christmas to all of you.xx

I feel like having two might be less trouble as far as Oscar’s behavior but what if we got a second one just like him?? And, vet bills and food are so expensive . . I doubt we’ll do it.
