I’ve been trying to find a spot for the yellow chair where I can sit and stitch and the light won’t be in Vince’s eyes. I also need to sit where I can somewhat see Oscar. Even when he’s confined, he can get himself into lots of trouble. I cannot see him when I’m sitting in my current location but I can tell from the sounds when he’s shredding something he shouldn’t be shredding. Drywall sounds one way, baseboards sound another way. The dog bed has a different sound. All the information no one should have to learn! 🙂
There’s an area behind our recliners that’s . . well, it’s a mess! There are cords. Vince saves cords. Every cord for every electronic device he has ever owned . . really . . E.V.E.R.Y. cord . . is tossed in a pile behind our recliners. We had decided that he would take all those cords and go through them. In reality, that means he was going to take all the cords and put them in boxes and stick them somewhere so I won’t see them every day. Whatever . . out of sight/out of mind works for me.
While Vince was hauling cords upstairs, I thought . . the desktop computer! Two years and I haven’t really missed it means I don’t need it.
We have this little computer stand and this is where I had planned to put my desktop. I used to use the desktop a lot and sometimes I miss it. If I were using Electric Quilt, I would need a Windows computer but, for now, I’m not using Electric Quilt. It’s time to face the fact that I cannot keep everything so I told Vince the computer stand needs to go.
Vince is taking the computer table to his “office” because we may need it some day!
Here’s what I ended up with and I love it. I’m facing Oscar’s little area. He’ll be able to run around back there with me now that the mess behind the recliners is picked up. The door almost behind the rocker . . that’s double pocket doors that lead into the sewing room but we keep the closed. There’s another door around the corner past the pink bins that goes to the sewing room. I should have taken more pictures but if you walk past the bins, there’s about a 12′ x 12′ area and that’s Rita’s little area. There are really no walls – just doors! There’s a door to a wide closet that goes up under the stairs. There’s a door that goes to what would be a downstairs laundry room but we use it for storage. Then there’s a door to the safe room – all concrete – ceiling and walls. Then there’s a door to the bedroom. Then there’s a door to the bathroom. Then there’s a door to the sewing room and then . . we’re back where we started.
Above is a photo from when the house was for sale. You can see the double doors are open. The quilt rack is where I have my pink bins. The sewing room door is open. The bathroom door is open. OK . . you don’t see the bedroom door, the safe room door, the storage room door or the closet door. Two out of six isn’t bad! 🙂
This wall is a blank canvas.
I’ll be able to hang all kinds of finished projects on that wall. We don’t have a lot of wall space in this house. I love my little setup. I think I’ll like it even more when the yellow chair arrives. I kinda wish that wall was red but what I may do is hang a red/white quilt over the back of the chair. But then .. I wish the drawers were red and not pink. Darn . . maybe I should have ordered a pink chair and left well enough alone.
I did a lot yesterday. My foot was killing me by the time I stopped. It’s a bit better today . . I’m thinking plantar fasciitis is going to be with me for the duration. Last night, I thought . . briefly . . maybe I should get that third shot. Then I came to my senses. I’ll just sit and cross stitch.

May I? I will. It’s time to get custom orthotics for that PF. Not cheap and worth every penny.

I have had two bouts with plantar faciitis and cured it both times by stretching. I stood on the stairs with my toes on the edge of the tread and dropped my heel down toward the step below and let it stretch and stretch. I haven’t been bothered by it for years.

That’s one of the exercises I’ve been doing. I spent the day working, barefooted, yesterday and that brought it all on. My fault.

I’ve had the custom orthotics and they did not work for me. In fact my PF was more painful. I started with the foot stretches and although it took some time I’ve been PF free for about 10 years. I’m still stretching and I no longer go barefoot in the house.

The podiatrist told me that from the x-rays, the inserts are not what I need. I had tried several rather expensive pairs though they were not custom made, and they made mine worse. I have been stretching but will admit I was barefooted most of yesterday. I know that’s what’s causing the problem and I have to stop doing it.
