For those of you who have read the blog for years, you know that kidney stones are part of my routine. For years, I had them every 3 or 4 years, then had some procedure done at Vanderbilt in 2004 and this is only the second time I’ve had them since then. So, I’m very lucky!
Last night I stayed up and stitched til about 1:30, went to bed, woke up at 2 a.m. and knew exactly what it was. I didn’t want to wake Vince and neither of us drive at dark so I made it through the night and we went to the ER this morning. Had a CT scan and got meds, will see a urologist next week.
I’m thankful to be here – we went to the Carthage Hospital and it wasn’t crowded. No one in the waiting room, got right in, was seen and out of there within probably an hour or an hour and a half.
I’ve slept all day. Oscar is so confused and upset with the situation. He was supposed to go to the vet today but we had to cancel that.
I’ll be fine . . but if I don’t post much, you’ll know why. I may post just like normal – who knows. Kidney stones are weird little things. They can move and then not move for a long time. I got good pain meds through the IV at the hospital but have taken only OTC (don’t even remember what the doctor told me to take . . thankfully Vince is here and taking good care of me) and I’m not hurting so I’m hoping that continues. I do have an Rx pain med but am hoping not to have to take that but will if I need to.
Since I have truly slept the entire day, I hope I can get some stitching in tonight.

Kidney stones are the only thing that ever got my husband to ask to go to the doctor when he was alive. I am sending you a ton of sympathy and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I pray that this passes quickly. My husband gets them and he is debilitated when he has one or more.

I’m so sorry they’ve struck again. My older son wound up having surgery a few years ago and is pretty careful to do what prevention he can now. I could see then that it is truly painful!

I’ve had kidney stones twice. The second time I had to have surgery because I have a horseshoe kidney and can’t pass them. They sure are miserable.

I suffered with them for almost 15 yrs countless surgeries and a lot of pain and stents, watching my diet lots and lots of fluids. They had checked my parathyroids twice second time found out that one of them was what could have been the issue, so they removed one and “touch wood” it’s been about 5 yrs and no problems

That’s something I would never have expected. I’ll mention that to my doctor. Thanks!
