The first shot I got in my foot hardly hurt at all. The one I got yesterday . . oh, my goodness. I will have to be just about in the worst pain ever before I do that again. I know I jerked my foot the instant that needle went in. He did the same thing he did before with numbing the area but . . something was different. He said it might have been because there was already so much pain in my foot with the first shot and not much pain with the second shot.
It might have been the worst pain I’ve ever had but, it was fairly quick. I just sat there and bit my lip through it. He told me that two shots are all most people need but sometimes it takes three. I wanted to say . . I’m 100% sure two did it for me. No way would I get another one.
I must say my foot feels amazing now. Getting out of bed, there was no pain when I made that first step. But, it felt amazing for a week or so after the last shot. I think standing so much for a couple of days and canning sweet potatoes and then standing two more days while cooking Thanksgiving dinner didn’t help so I’m going to try my best to stay off it and let it heal.
But . . I’m going to try to stay off it as much as possible and whatever happens, I’m pretty sure that was my last shot.

Mercy! That made me hurt all over just thinking about how that must have felt!! I hope the good effects from that shot last forever.

Sometimes, I think, that the area where the shot goes in might be just a bit off from the first shot. I know that happened to me when I got a shot for tendinitis years and year ago. The first shot wasn’t too bad, seemed to help a bit but needed the 2nd shot and that one HURT like the dickens. I had a mammogram appointment right after the shot and couldn’t feel a thing from the mammogram pressure. Once the pain from the shot wore off, I’ve never had another shot for the tendonitis (not had the tendonitis problem since the last shot). That’s been more than 15 years ago.

I had the same thing happen when I was getting shots in my knee. I had two that hardly hurt at all and the third one, my first reaction was to shove the doctor’s hand and the needle away but thankfully, I didn’t. When I went back for the fourth one, I told him . . if this one hurts like the last one did, I’m not coming back. It didn’t hurt but that was all I needed. It’s been at least five years ago and no knee pain at all. I hope I can go as long as you have without having to get a knee shot or another foot shot.

When you step out of bed in the morning, step into some arch support shoes and keep them on all day. If the doctor gives you stretches or exercises, do them religiously. I have been there before, also got the shots….. Not fun! I pray that the second shot is all you need.

That’s what I’ve been trying to do. I also have a wrap around brace from the doctor for my foot. We don’t wear the same shoes outside that we wear inside so I wear my Vionic tennis shoes inside, wear Crocs outside that I can slip off and leave at the door and sometimes I forget to put the tennis shoes back on but I’m trying to do better.
