I feel like I’m trying to put a square peg in a round hole. I can’t stop wanting to use that gold frame.
This is Silent Night by Stitches Through the Years and I got it from Needle Case Goodies on Etsy. I’ve shopped with her for a couple of years and she’s great. In fact, this chart was out of stock. I asked about it, she contacted the designer, Stitches Through The Years, and had more charts in stock the next day. That’s the beauty of a pdf chart.
If I stitch this on 46 count linen, it will fit perfectly in the chunky gold frame – 7/8″ border around all four sides. I’ve seen it on Instagram framed in silver and I’m not sure I would want gold or silver so do I stitch on 46 count so it will fit in the gold frame or do I stitch it on 40 count and put it in any frame I’d like to use?
Do y’all think it would be ok in that gaudy gold frame or would it be better in a silver frame? I am probably going to use a metallic thread for the snow and crystal beads for the snowflakes so . . maybe silver?? So many decisions.

I think a silver frame would look great!

That’s what I’m thinking too so I’m going to go with the 40 count.

I don’t see it in a gold frame – I think silver would really look good.

You’re right. I’m just trying too hard to find something for that frame.

Silver frame….it’s a winter scene!
Does the designer have similar cardinal/seasonal designs in the same size – you could do all four of them, each with a seasonal color frame (light green for spring, deeper green for summer, the gold for fall). And you could have three spots on your cardinal wall with the current season design on the mantel using a plate holder… I mentioned the plate holder idea in the other post.
Or have a spot for all four seasons.

I have not seen other seasons that she has but she’s a Russian designer and is having problem selling now due to the rules about Russian businesses. A few other shops are carrying her charts but I haven’t found a shop that has all of them.

I’m voting silver frame for this project. I used the cross stitch calculator and worked backwards — you can stitch a 155 x 115 project on 40-count linen and that will finish at 7-3/4 x 5-3/4. Do you have any charts that would look good in the chunky gold frame with those approximate dimensions? I think Among the Roses by Mojo stitches would look great — but you might have to modify a couple of the leaves at the top and bottom to make it fit just right (pattern is 127 x 122 but doesn’t look square at all). Good luck! I know whatever you decide will look great.

The frame opening is 9-3/8 x 7-3/8. I always start with the chart I want to stitch and then find the frame. Frames are not that expensive and it seems much easier for me to do it that way.
I do like Mojo Stitches’ birds and I do have Among the Roses. I think that frame is perfect for that. I’ll think about when I’m feeling better. Thanks.

I vote silver frame, too!
