Yesterday we left the doctor’s office about 9:15 a.m. Our next scheduled stop was to eat burgers but they don’t open til 11. We had planned to go to the pallet store but they don’t open til 10 so we went to Aldi, walked around in there or about half an hour. Then we stopped at McDonald’s and split a breakfast burrito just to do something til the pallet store opened.
I don’t even know what all Vince found but I got a couple of decent things.
I found this coffee grinder, which can also be used for spices. Who cares if Vince’s coffee tastes a bit like anise or black pepper. 🙂
Amazon says it’s regular $50, on sale for $30. We paid $3.00. We were able to plug it in there and test it to be sure it worked, and it did.
I also found a two pack package of Mrs. Meyers Lavender Dryer Sheets. Amazon says these were $25.50 and now has them for $15.23. I got them, together as one package, for $3.00. One of the boxes was a bit crushed but they were sealed in a plastic bag and seemed fine.
Amazon isn’t showing a six pack in lavender but they have a six pack in other scents and they’re $33 to $35, depending on the scent. I got them all for $3.00. I had no idea why Method brand is so expensive (and I wouldn’t pay that) but they’re plant based and compostable so, for $3.00, I’ll use them and put them in the garden. If I’m lucky, they’ll have enough scent left in them to chase the critters out of the back yard but my luck, they love lavender.
The scrubber wasn’t so much of a bargain. You can buy 4 for $14.00 at Amazon and I got one for $3.00 but I needed it. I like these for cleaning inside regular mouth jars and the one I have was a bit ragged.
There may have been a few other things I picked up that I’m just not remembering but I think I found some good bargains and all things I will use. For the next few months, I’ll use the dryer more than I do during warmer months with longer days. The clothes will still dry if I get them out early enough but I totally forget about them, then first thing I know, it’s dark and they’re damp again so I’ve been using the dryer for the past couple of weeks and the dryer sheets will come in handy. If I don’t have them, I just add a bit of vinegar to the rinse and that works just fine but for the price I paid for these, I’m happy to have smell good dryer sheets.

Question…why out vinegar in the rinse? I have used vinegar and salt to set fabric dyes but never in rinse. We don’t have a Pallet Store in my area but do have a Big Lots which I think is similar to your Pallet Store. I may need to go check it out again .

They aren’t the same. Pallet stores (and they aren’t all called that – not even ours!) but they have returns from Amazon, Target, Kohl’s, etc. A lot of things have been opened, some things are missing parts, some things are broken . . it’s truly a scavenger hunt. There are big wooden bins set up in row after row with maybe 25 bins that are about 4′ long, back to back in the rows. There are always tons of cell phone cases, masks, electronic components, charges for various electronics. Yesterday I saw a package of parchment paper that had been opened. Why would someone send something like that back and why would someone buy that? On Saturday and Sunday they do their big restocks. On Saturday and Sunday, every item is $7. On Monday, every item is $5, then it goes down $1 each day. On Friday, everything is $1 and then they dump or donate what’s left in the bins and start over on Saturday.
Vince loves to tinker and he’s always fixing something so he finds lots of components he can use to make things work without having to buy expensive parts.
Vince could spend days in there . . I don’t enjoy it so much.

Angie,
Vinegar is a natural softener, I use it all the time in my laundry and it keeps the washing machine clean and odor free at the same time.

Thank you, Rachel! And, it’s so much less expensive than fabric softener and fabric softener used every load can gunk up parts of the washer and clog the “pores” of the lint filter. Also towels and dish towels are much more absorbent when vinegar has been used instead of fabric softener.
I only use fabric softener on sheets (for the smell) and in my tops. I will sometimes moisten a cottonball with fabric softener and put it in a little glass bowl in the bathroom or laundry room cabinet. It makes the rooms smell fresh and clean.

Thanks for your reply. I knew it was a cleaner but didn’t realize it was a softener. Do you use a white vinegar or apple cider? Using vinegar would save me from having to buy washing machine cleaner and run the cleaner cycle.

Angie, I use white vinegar. Just get the store brand or least expensive.
