Whether it’s a good movie, a good book, a great cross stitch project, the end of those and then getting started on another is kind of a let down for me. I sometimes find myself procrastinating (I even cleaned toilets today!) just because I struggle to get started on something new, no matter how much I’m looking forward to the new project.
After finishing Only One Rose and being so in love with it, I had to work hard to get going today.
Silent Night:
I did get the floss pulled, and the fabric choices for Silent Night. I do think I’m going to drop down to a 40 count linen for that and go with a silver frame. This will be a seasonal piece that probably won’t stay out all year but . . it may go on my cardinal wall and be there to help me get through the summer . . remind me that winter is coming.
Memories of the Past:
The floss arrived for Memories of the Past by Hands Across the Sea from Vikki Clayton today. I chose the fabric, got it cut and serged and it is now loaded on the frame. Not looking forward to having to get used to stitching in a frame again but hopefully that will help my left hand not ache from holding the fabric.
That’s a horrible picture of the fabric. This is more correct for the color but the floss is on the other picture so I’ll leave it.
It’s just a creamy color with yellow splotches here and there. I think it’s perfect for this project!
With the bright colored floss, it was easy to choose a color. This fabric was the November selection for XJu Designs’ Fabric Club and when it arrived, I knew exactly what I was going to use it for.
The Best Part of the Day:
I have not taken one stitch today and I don’t think I took one stitch yesterday. That’s so wrong! I loaded the fabric on the frame for Memories of the Past and then realized I didn’t know where the extra end pieces were for the frames. I’ve seen them . . but where? Why aren’t they with the long parts of the frames? Because I never do things the easy way! I had looked everywhere I thought they might be (still haven’t found them) but then I thought . . maybe in the bottom drawer of the dresser in the basement bedroom. I opened that drawer. There was nothing in the drawer but this!
A Changed World by The Scarlett House. I had wanted to finish that and have 2022 on the date but I doubt I can finish it before the end of the year. We’ll see. Why did I stick that in the bottom dresser drawer? I had probably left it on the bed, we decided to sleep down there and . . in an empty drawer it went. That picture matches the photo that was on the blog in September, 2021 so that’s the last time I worked on this one.
I am so happy to have found that. I didn’t even unroll it to see how much is done on it but I’m definitely going to concentrate on getting more done on it, stitching Memories of the Past and trying to get a head start on Three Things Sampler.
I need to get busy, don’t I? 🙂

I think the cardinal winter scene would be great on a wall – all year long. You can just move it to a different space during the Christmas holidays. If you find similar size patterns for a spring, summer, fall cardinal scene, you can hang three up on the cardinal wall and then have the “in season” one somewhere (think picture stands).
Those bright colors for the memories project are so much better than the colors in the photo. Those were just too muted and pinkish. Love the bold!
Don’t worry about having a 2023 date for A Changed World – it still applies. Maybe you could start the date field with “2019 – 202?” since this pandemic madness continues on….

I’m just not sure I want something up that says “WINTER” on it. It will be refreshing to get it out after having not had it up for a while so I’ll figure out what to do once it’s finished, which will probably be after winter is over this year.

Do you remember the game “find the thimble?” Someone hides the thimble and then the other say you’re cold, you’re getting warmer, etc? I don’t know if that was a MN thing or not–winters are long there! Anyway, we could have a great game of hide the cross stitch project at your house! Check all the drawers first!

I don’t even need a game. I seem to hide everything from myself anyway! I need to do so much better.
