Sunday I was sure I would finish Only One Rose by Hands Across the Sea Samplers. By late in the evening, I knew I wasn’t going to finish it but then I was sure I’d finish it yesterday but, again, I didn’t.
I stitched 588 stitches yesterday and it looks like I have less than 300 stitches remaining to be stitched. 95.90% finished looks good.
I love this piece! I still have a bit of red to stitch in the buds on the bottom flowers, finish the basket on the left, stitch the basket on the right and stitch the buds on the top left flower. On the chart, on the left bottom, 20 is stitched and on the right, I’ll stitch 22. First, I have to run the basting thread around the edges to indicate where the piece will fit on the mounting board, then I’ll space the 20 and 22 according to those lines.
As far as frames, these are two thrift store frames I have here.
I had been thinking of something gold and a bit ornate. This one is a good been too narrow and a bit more ornate than I had wanted but it gives me an idea of how a gold frame will look.
This one will be an almost . . almost perfect fit by the time I add the year at the bottom but I don’t think it does anything for the piece.
The model is shown framed in a dark wood. I wonder how this one would look.
Here’s a gold one . . not sure what I want now.
I have to be in town most of the day today. Maybe I’ll take the piece with me and go by Hobby Lobby and see what I think looking at their frames.
Any thoughts on how you would frame this piece? Thanks!

This is beautiful! I like the second frame better if it was a little smaller. Hopefully you will find the perfect one at Hobby Lobby.

That is so beautiful!! To my eye I like the darker edge of a frame next to the piece since the linen is light. To me the second frame you showed doesn’t work as well compared to other choices. I think it would work fine with it but I love a darker color next to the linen if that makes sense. Perhaps if the white/cream middle part of the frame was darker it would be perfect. Personally I also like less of the linen showing between the design and frame. That’s just my personal preference though. I know whatever you choose will work well and after all, it’s on your wall! It’s making me itch to get back at it since your work is so lovely but I’m still working on Love of Nature and just absolutely loving it. Half the border and the alphabet to go and a couple of little things and I’ll be done!

I love the first one if it was bigger. That last goldfish corner looks good also.

If I had stitched on 40 count, the first one would probably have been perfect but the only piece of that color linen I had was 36 count.

Have you considered buying some of the gold rub on to darken the second frame?

I have some and thought about maybe using a deep gray too but the size isn’t 100% perfect so I’m going to order something . . I think.
