Let’s get two things straight . . NEVER listen to me when it comes to directions and NEVER listen to me if I’m talking about anything computer related. So, take everything from here with a grain of salt.
I’ve been asking Vince . . for years . . to help me scan a chart on the printer, have the printer make it into a pdf and email it to me. He’s always busy and tells me to remind him later, then I forget and the next time I need to do it, he’s busy and tells me to remind him and it just never happens.
Today I was determined I was going to figure it out. The things working in my favor were that (1) the Chief game had just started and (2) the printer table is in front of the TV so while I was working on trying to figure it out, Vince couldn’t see the game. I didn’t do any of that on purpose but quickly saw that he was quite willing to help me get it done and get out of his way! 🙂
He tried and he couldn’t get it to work. The printer is 7 years old so that probably wasn’t helping. The printer works fine but I’m guessing there’s much newer technology.
Anyway . . all it took was adding an app, HP Smart, and all I have to do is place the chart on the scanner/printer glass, and then I do the rest from my Chromebook. I can email it to myself, I can send it to Dropbox or send it to Google Drive.
This is seriously a huge change/improvement for my stitching.

That’s what I do, only, I use knit companion on my I-pad. I don’t know if it will easily keep track of how many stitches I have done per day, but it works great for everything I want it to do for cross stitch.

I started out doing that but Android tablets are so inexpensive and iPads are not inexpensive, I figured for the amount of use my Android tablet is getting, it was a good financial decision to buy the inexpensive table for the cross stitching. The iPad I have is pretty old and I’m trying to be careful with it and use it only when knitting (which isn’t much these days).
