We all know NOT to go grocery shopping when we’re hungry, right? Do you ever do it? I try not to but this morning, I made the mistake of going to town with Vince. He had ordered something to be picked up curbside at Walmart and wanted to get there as soon as they started bringing things out but he forgot to change the pickup person to himself. Sometimes WM checks closely and this was a fairly large purchase so I figured if ever they checked . . it would be today. We left the house about 7:45. I figured we’d be home by 9, which earlier than I normally eat breakfast. No makeup. The hair was somewhat fixed because I had washed it last night, went to bed with wet hair and it was a huge mess this morning so I used the flat iron a bit . . thankfully.
All we were going to do was the curbside pickup and come straight home. Why would I ever think that was possible?
At Walmart, Vince decided we should go in and see if there were any deals we “needed” because some of their Black Friday stuff was out this morning. Vince decided I needed a new Chromebook that was on sale. No, my Chromebook is just fine. But what if it breaks and there are none on sale? But, what if we leave it in a box and mine doesn’t break for 2 or 3 years and then we open the new one and it doesn’t even work? You’ve never had a computer that lasted for 2 or 3 years. I have but he wants to be believe I ruin them within days. I figured it was easier to buy the new computer than argue with him in Walmart. That’s all we bought.
As we were walking out the door at home, Vince said “I’ll run by the courthouse and pay the property taxes.” I said “Let me run back in and get the bills!” Vince said “No! They have all that on computer.” They do but if they spelled your last name wrong, they can’t find your bill. I waited in the car. He was in the courthouse for over half an hour. Others got out with their tax bills, walked inside, came back out. Where’s Vince? Finally, he called and said “They can’t find the car tax bills!” After a while, he came out and said he would have to go home and get the bill and go back and pay the car tax. Hmmm .. next time listen to your wife.
On the way home, I looked it up on my phone and found it. They have our last name spelled wrong on the car bill but not on the house bill.
After the courthouse, he said “Is there anything you need from Aldi?” We were passing right by there and they had Italian sausage on sale so I said I could use a couple of pounds of that. I told Vince I’d sit in the car and he could get the sausage. He said “Come in . . there may be something else you see that you need!”
Oh, yes . . chocolate covered marzipan logs that I love and they only have at Christmas. Rolo, pretzels and pecan halves. Potato chips. Frito dip chips for a cheeseball I’m making for Thanksgiving. Snickerdoodle Oreos! I don’t even know what all we got but most of it was stuff we definitely did not need.
From there, we went by a little family owned deli that serves breakfast and it was good . . kept me from breaking open the Rolos and Snickerdoodle cookes!
We’re home. Cornbread is made for the dressing. Turkey #1 is cut up and cooking with the sous vide. Turkey #2 will be fried in the infrared fryer. We’re not having Thanksgiving Dinner til Friday so tomorrow I’ll make the pies, two kinds of cranberry sauce, and Watergate Salad. Friday morning I’ll stir up the dressing, make the sweet potato casserole and rolls . . hopefully we’ll have LOTS of leftovers. If not . . there’s always Snickerdoodle cookies. 🙂

.. I learned my lesson when my pc crashed right at tax time. A while back I bought an extra laptop with windows 11 when there was talk of chip shortages. And, it was on sale. I kept using my W10 laptop until it started running real slow. I am slowly moving files over to the new machine and I probably keep my eyes open for sales over the holidays for another spare.
So, have Vince load your programs into the new one and then stash it someplace.
Re Aldi – I always buy too much when I go there since the deals are good or they just have something that looks good. I’ll probably go soon to get some of those holiday cheeses, stollen, and other treats.

We use Chromebooks so we don’t have to worry about losing much, if anything when they crash. We have several “cloud” backups and it’s so nice to go from computer to computer and have all the files available. “Programs” are all apps on the Chromebook so as soon as I sign into my account, they’re all right there. Super easy. I did suggest that we turn on the new computer, update whatever needs updating and use it either in the kitchen or the upstairs living room and keep the “main” Chromebook downstairs. At least we’ll know the new one works fine and if I find I like it better than the one I’m currently using, I can make the current one the backup.
I did see stollen and holiday cheeses today. Better get over there soon! 🙂

Shopping when hungry is dangerous…especially around the holidays! lol Yesterday my husband went to go buy some wine and came home with 3 bags of candy! We almost bought a black Friday laptop this morning but decided to let it go.
