I’m really not trying to convince you to spend money but I’m just letting you know what I found. You may already know but . . if you aren’t interested, just keep on going and if you are, you’ll thank me that you got in on the beginning of this project.
Cottage Garden Samplings has some of the neatest designs. They aren’t always my style but I have loved almost everything I’ve seen of theirs and yesterday as I was going through my charts, I was surprised at how many of their designs I do have, even though I don’t think I’ve ever stitched them.
Last night I came across their Snowman Collector, which is about to start. You can see the first one, which isn’t available yet. It’s all over Etsy as a pre-order and you can be notified when 123 Stitch gets it. I will admit that if we order all 12 of the designs, it will cost an arm and a leg but we will be able to see the charts before ordering it.
The designer used Milk Chocolate by Fabric by Stephanie. NOTE: The link says the color is Chestnut but I copied it from the Milk Chocolate page so check it before ordering if you want to order the fabric. The dilemma is this: Do I think I’ll stitch all 12 together and should, therefore, get a full yard, or will I stitch one or two and be able to get by with a smaller piece of fabric? I have to think about that.
One little piece of advice: If you’re thinking about doing this, go down a bit on the Snowman Collector page at Cottage Garden and you’ll see the floss requirements for the first three charts. I would order the four Weeks Dyeworks colors now because, if this goes like everything else, once those charts are available and everyone starts stitching them, those floss colors may be next to impossible to find.
I am going to at least stitch the first one but I have a feeling I’m going to want to stitch them all. You know how I love snow!

That is one awesome snowman, if the other 11 are half as nice I think I would want to do them all. Plus it would be a wonderful addition to your stitching wall!!

I love that one and from the rest of Cottage Garden’s designs, I think all the snowmen will be as awesome.

Cottage Garden Samplings is my favorite designer! I have all of the charts for A Year In The Woods, and I also have Trick or Treat, which is what I am currently stitching. I started that one on October 30 and when I showed it to my husband he said, you know you only have one day to finish it. I looked at him and said, no, I have 366 days to finish it! 🙂

Hi, just put this chart in my basket at Patchwork Rabbit, literary just before I read this blog, spooky. q
Question: downloaded the free border pattern, but what stitch is it? Thought rice stitch but unsure. Just love it all, I plan to start in December and hope to finish it for Christmas 2023.

I think it’s just four stitches to make a square. If you look at the drawing where it shows the one stitched looking snowman in the top left and then the drawings in the rest of the blocks, it looks like 4 stitches to make a square. If you look at the chart, it looks like a snowflake but I believe that’s just the symbol for white stitches. Correct me if I’m wrong.

I think you should order a yard of the fabric for the Snowman Collection. Better to have it and not need it………

I’m going to see what I have here. It looks like ordering it will take at least four to six weeks. If I have something that will work here, I can stitch the border and know it’s all going to fit before starting a snowman. I’ve had such bad luck with crookedly cut fabric lately, I’m not even sure one yard would be big enough unless it’s perfectly cut.
