Today while I was going through charts, I was thinking about several things concerning blog stitch alongs so I’ll share those thoughts with you and please let me know what you think. I want this to be fun for all of us who stitch as well as fun for the spectators – those who love to watch but don’t care (yet) to stitch.
First, we’ll do it all through the blog. I will probably post my progress for the week on Friday evening so anyone who is participating in any of the stitch alongs, please feel free to send me a picture by noon on Friday. I’m central time but I probably won’t post til about 6 p.m. If you are sending me a picture, I am assuming I have your permission to post your picture. Also, because I probably won’t remember, at least in the beginning . . please include the name you want me to use. For instance, if it were me, I could say “Please list me as Patchwork Times or please list me as Judy L. or Judy Laquidara”. You say however you want to be listed. Also, please include the name of the chart and the designer. Any other info you want me to include, just put it in the email.
I will try to keep an ongoing link to “progress reports” under an “Ongoing SAL” widget in the right sidebar. Please know that those reports will include all the SALs. By the end of 2023, some of us may still be working on Three Things so those pictures will be included. I’ll also create a Completed SAL widget and will create a list of ongoing SALs and as someone finishes, I’ll include a link to that post.
Second, as I was going through way too many charts today, I started thinking about SALs that would keep us all happy and engaged. Here’s what I’m thinking:
- We have three big ones starting January 1, February 1 and March 1.
- For those of us who may get bored with the big ones, how about on the 15th of every month, we can start a “Smalls SAL”. This one will be your choice. What I call “small”, someone else may call large. It’s up to you.
- I was thinking on April 1, May 1, and June 1, those of us who have WIPs that we want to work on, we can start those and that can kinda be our monthly project.
- Then, 2023 will be halfway over. We can evaluate our progress and see if we want to continue with this type plan or do something else or do nothing.
How does that sound?
There will be no pressure to finish, no pressure to participate, no pressure to send me photos. It’s all just for fun and if it isn’t fun . . no need to do it, right?

Hi sounds great, hoping to get going and not just be a happy but frustrated watcher for once! Making 2023 my year of starts, yay. Thanks for a brilliant idea for us whose mojo is a wee bit low at the moment. Going to use my nickname for updates of Petticoats! Will remember to add it to the future pics. Just have to work out time difference between your time and UK time? Thanks for lifting my spirits. Xx

I hope you can figure out that time difference because I have a hard time with just the one hour differences in the US time zones. 🙂
Glad you’re going to join us. I know you need some happy distractions!

Me too. I think the more we stitch, the less attention we pay to news and the economy and that makes us much happier! 🙂
