The more I thought about using the Leo & Rosy 46 count Porcelain for And A Forest Grew, the more I liked the idea so I stuck that piece of fabric in the bag with the floss. The fabric is the perfect size!
I don’t usually leave 2″ on all sides for the border and 2″ on all sides for finishing. I’m doing good to have a total of 2″ on all four sides but since I do my own framing, I don’t have to be concerned about requirements from a framer.
This piece of fabric is 29″ x 19″. That’s as close to perfect as I’ll get so this is a great choice.
I would like to think I could start this and make one tree per day but I have too many projects started now so this one isn’t going to get started any time soon.
But, during the night I woke up briefly and thought . . I can’t stitch on 46 count with DMC floss. It’s a bit too thick. I got up this morning and using DMC one strand, stitched a few stitches in the corner of the 46 count and that’s just too thick for my preference so . . back to the drawing board.

Oh my, that’s a lot of floss to have to start over.

I’m thinking any FQ of linen will work that is 40 count if you put 1” and 2” into the calculator. I’m with Melinda, that’s a lot of floss that you put on drops. Good luck! Can’t wait to see what you choose. My BIG project for next year is Serenity Harbor by By The Bay Needleart. It represents sooo much of my life and ancestors that I couldn’t pass it up. I have four linens chosen but just couldn’t make up my mind so they’re all in time out. 🙂

They would if they’re cut straight but too many are not.

I’m sure you’ll find something perfect! I got the notification too and bought the pattern. Have no clue yet of what fabric I will use but I’ll look at some linens I have. I also ended up ordering some 36 ct linen to restart Only One Rose. I don’t know what I was thinking when I chose the mocha fabric! Oh well…it was only one day of work on the chart!

Yay! You’re working on Only One Rose too!
