The new oven is all connected with the app and I can look inside and see what’s going on, which is nothing at the moment but here’s what the picture I see looks like.
I’m impressed with the picture quality. I could check on bread from downstairs and should be able to keep close tabs on when it’s getting done.
One of the things that I’m a bit surprised about is how much space the rack configuration takes up.
After I’ve used the oven for a while, I’ll have a more educated idea of what I think about these. Here are similar replacement racks at Best Buy. I haven’t figured out why they’re called “Never Scrub” racks. I do think they could be replaced with regular racks. The sides look exactly the same as the inside of my other oven. I probably should have saved the racks from the old oven to see if they fit but I didn’t. Knowing Vince, he did . . I’ll have to ask him.
These racks do slide out so smoothly. I may end up liking them but I do feel like, no matter how much I like them, if this was the only oven I had, the racks would take up way more room than I’d be willing to give up. I’ll report back after I’ve used it a while.
I find it very easy to use. It’s all touch screen and yes, we bought the extended warranty. I know how quickly these things can go out.
I also think I can change that background photo. I’m not going to deal with it today and by tomorrow, I’ll probably be used to that photo and won’t even remember to change it but I think Oscar needs to be on there! 🙂
As far as the microwave . . I do not want a microwave. I do not ever use a microwave. In Texas, we had a small microwave in the laundry room and Vince used that rarely! He really thinks he uses it a lot. I had already told him . . if you feel like you need or want a microwave, I’m ok with it but if you’re just feeling like every house needs a microwave, so we should have one too . . I don’t want it.
He thinks the GE Cafe microwave is too expensive. It doesn’t have the matching handle that the other appliances (dishwasher, stove/oven, wall oven, fridge) have so a plain white, more modern microwave would be fine. I hadn’t agreed to that yet because I didn’t realize how plain, generic the Cafe model looks.
There is something Vince wants to do in the back yard and I do not want to do it . . at least not the way he wants to do it. In the end, I know he’s going to do it the way he wants to do it and I won’t complain but . . I’d rather he do it another way.
On the way to town this morning, we had this conversation:
Vince: I’ve been thinking about the microwave and if you’ll agree to what I want to do in the back yard, I’ll agree to the Cafe microwave.
Me: Wait . . I don’t want you to do what you’re wanting to do in the back yard and I don’t want a microwave so . . what’s my incentive?
Vince: The Cafe microwave! That’s what you want!
Me: No. I don’t want a microwave at all but IF we’re going to have one, I’d like for it to match the other appliances.
Vince: OK . . we agree. You go ahead and order the Cafe microwave.
What just happened here? 🙂
When I talked to the appliance guy, he told me yes, there are other microwaves that would look fine with the other appliances BUT the Cafe microwave is also a convection oven so you can actually roast a chicken in it . . basically cook a meal.
That made me happy. I’ll have another convection oven, which I love, and Vince will have a microwave.
Here’s something funny. While connecting the new oven to the app, I saw what all the “options” were that were listed so I thought . . I’ve never looked at the options on the gas oven so I hit “options”.
It does have air fry. I thought it did but it isn’t listed on the screen and I never thought to check options! No telling what else it has that I don’t even know about.
I’m very thankful for the new kitchen appliances. I know that I am very blessed to have these and there’s never a day when I’m using them that I don’t thank Vince for agreeing to buy these and God for us being able to buy them.

And here I thought we were fancy when we got a pushbutton oven! 😉 The one I’d been living with had an inaccurate dial.

That was huge! Having an oven that isn’t exactly correct can mess up so many dishes!

Holy cow! That things does everything but wash the dishes! Good thing you have Vince for that!

Vince hasn’t washed a dish ever as far as I know. He has no idea how to use the dishwasher and says he doesn’t know how to load it or unload it. It’s a good thing he does so many other things well! 🙂
