Yesterday I did a lot of things but not a whole lot of stitching! My hope was to get at least 500 stitches made and I only got 290 and those stitches only happened because I stayed up way too late. We went to vote and then to town; then later, back to town.
On our first trip to town, Vince had a legitimate errand to run after we voted so I went with him since we were already out. Then he went to Harbor Freight, Home Depot, the hardware store, Walmart, Atwoods . . I stayed in the car for all those places. We went to Aldi and I went in there. I did need salmon to smoke so Aldi was my idea.
We went home, put away the groceries. I started stitching and after a while, Vince said “I’d really like to go out and get wings this afternoon.” I hate saying no so much so I figured if we went and got wings, I wouldn’t have to cook and clean the kitchen so that would be a wash as far as time goes so we went to get wings. After we got wings, Vince said “Let’s stop and look at new cars!” Believe it or not, I said NO! I told him . . you are NOT ready to buy a car; you are NOT ready to let go of the Honda. No! I am not wasting time looking at cars. He thinks he wants a Subaru and it seemed from passing by that the dealer has a good many new cars on the lot. For so long they’ve had a handful. But still . . I draw the line there. If he wants to go look at cars, he can do it. I don’t need to be a part of that time drain. We started home and I’m thinking . . I can’t believe we’re going straight home and not making any other stops.
Nope, wrong! He said “Do you mind if we run by the flea market?” Ughh! I said ok. We were in there well over an hour . . maybe two hours.
Yes, today . . if Vince even mentions me leaving the house . . there’s going to be trouble. 🙂

Do you cross stitch in the car? I always bring a book to read.

No. I can’t stitch without a magnifying lamp. I have an older Kindle that I keep in a bin in the laundry room and any time I leave the house, I grab it and read while waiting for Vince to do his shopping.

It sounds like you and Vince, especially Vince, went to more places in one day than I have in over two years! He must really love to shop. But, that is a good thing, he’s with you, and you know were he is. Not like Loretta Lynn in the song.

If you don’t already, you should keep a small stitching project in the car for all those times you wait in the car. You’ll be encouraging him to stop and saying no less often. I readily volunteer to pick the grands up from school because that gives me 30 extra minutes of stitching time!

I can’t see to cross stitch without a magnifying lamp but I always have a Kindle with me so I sit and read.

Oh, I get that. I have to have magnification, too! I’m very near-sighted and can actually see to stitch up close very well without my glasses; however, I can’t see anything else when I look up…including the chart. It works out OK in the car for short periods of time.

I had intended to start in the corner but forgot how much margin I gave myself so back to the center. I managed to get the yellow and green leaf and the rosebud to the left finished. However, now I’m rethinking my choice of fabric. I’m thinking the country mocha is too dark and am thinking of starting over on a much lighter color. Given the election is done and wanting to get back to Love of Nature, I guess I can set is aside and let it simmer for awhile. I did manage to finish Ye Old Crow Monday night so I can set that aside too and will add the tiny buttons once I iron it.

Vince needs a full time hobby, maybe volunteering? Just think of all the free time you’d have then!

I have a pair of magnifying glasses that have an LED light in them. They are normal glasses weight. You need a pair of these for the car.
