Yesterday I stopped on my way home to get gas. I so rarely put gas in my car because (1) we so rarely use that care and (2) Vince almost always does it. I had been to Nevada, MO and back twice to get Addie and then to take her home. We generally try to keep our cars with at least half a tank of gas so I figured while I was out, I’d stop and pump my own gas.
After I put the card in, I noticed the little screen was saying something else so I looked over at it.
I showed it to Vince and he said “They have you confused with someone else!” 🙂
Gas prices are so crazy. Up, down, up, down.
It was probably just a couple of weeks ago that I noticed gas was back over $3.30 per gallon. Today, with the discount, it was $2.97. I’d like for it to be a bit less but I won’t complain about $2.97, especially since we use so little gas.
Speaking of that, our electric company switched to a time based plan where you pay more during peak time and less during non-peak time. We could opt out so Vince called them to talk to them about opting out or switching to the time based plan and how it would affect our solar panel buy back plan. The lady looked at our bill and said “You use so little electricity, why are you even concerned about it?” She wasn’t being ugly . . I think she was shocked by the bill. We’re into that period where our bill is $13/month, which is the monthly customer charge. So long as we don’t have a lot of days below zero and the solar panels aren’t covered in snow and ice for days and days, we may have to pay a bit more for January and February but we’ll probably pay $13/month til our July bill. Can’t complain about that.

Gas here (NE Ohio) is almost $4.00 a gallon. I thought I got a bargain a couple weeks ago at $3.29!

It’s funny in a weird way how excited we get with something that’s lower than what we’re used to paying but still more than what it was in the recent past. Conditioning I suppose.

Gas in Montana is $3.89!

Gas right now in central Iowa is around $3.55. When I left NE Tx 10 days ago it was $3.09. Sticker shock coming north!

It’s pretty weird how much difference it is state to state and even in Missouri, if you’re in the rural areas or along the interstate.

Here in Southern California we are paying about 6.20 per gallon for gas. Would love to be paying 2.97 per gallon. Twelve gallons here would have been about $75.00. I am really limiting my driving and when I go out try to take care of as many errands as I can.

Unless I go to get Addie, I probably won’t put gas in my car again til after the first of the year so even though I wish it was lower, I mostly wish it for other people. We really don’t use that much but Chad and Nicole sure do and I know that hurts young families and those on budgets. When I worked, especially the years I had a squeaky tight budget, I couldn’t even go a week on a tank of gas. These prices would have killed me.

2 days ago, gas was $3.00 – $3.03. Today it’s $3.19…..who knows what it will be next week.

I had heard it was going up next week. We never know what’s true so I went ahead and filled up while I was out in the car that needed gas.

Just wait until after the elections next week and see what happens to gas prices.

Try buying home heating oil. We heat by oil and are retired, with our health I refuse to be cold. We use 1100 gallons per year and our pre buy cost for 2023 is $5.29 per gallon up $2.00 a gallon from this year, it will tighten our budget.

I’m so sorry. It makes no sense on so many levels.
