I always think I will get so much more done than I can actually get done.
The chart is Love Gains by Modern Folk Embroidery. It has 21 motifs – not sure that’s what you call them, plus the words in the center so I figured there were 22 areas/things to get stitched. Initially, I thought I could do one motif per day and be finished in 22 days. No! That is not going to happen.
Yesterday I stitched almost half a motif. That’s the top right corner.
I think I’m going to change my plan and try to stitch 250 to 300 stitches per day . . just do what I can in November and then at the end of the month, I’ll put it away and pick it up again in November, 2023. There are going to be some days I don’t stitch at all because I’ll be out of town a few days and I’m not taking the magnifying lamp so I won’t be stitching. Most days I should be able to get about half a motif done. If at the end of November, I have 12 motifs completed, that’s a bit more than half so I should be able to finish it in Black Sampler November, 2023. Works for me.
I am loving this black floss. The color is Charred Past by Victoria Clayton. I tried to get a close up photo. If you’ve ever used Weeks Dyeworks’ Onyx, I find that sometimes it has a bit of green in it and Charred Past reminds me of that but maybe Charred Past has a bit more green. I do like it a lot.

I was able to get a start on Ye Old Crow late last night. I started in the upper left corner and made it through the letter C and into D. Given this is a smaller stitch than yours I’m hoping to get it finished. I think that will slow my progress on Love of Nature but I’m really enjoying it and it’s so much easier not having to change colors! I should have checked Victoria Clayton’s site for the floss I need for the Election Day stitch. I might still look but not confident it will get here by Monday.

I really like Onyx so I’ll have to try Charred Past. Her silks are so nice!
