Today was such a fun day for me. Addie’s little school team had their last game of the season and it was in the town maybe 6 miles from here. . oh, goodness . . I’m going to say west of here, which probably means north, south or east of here! 🙂 I knew Vince wanted to finish chores around the house before we have storms tomorrow so I figured I would stay home and work on cleaning the house. Right! 🙂
I could have gone by myself but I get so lost and I haven’t been to Carl Junction since we went for the game there last year.
Nicole called this morning and asked if I wanted to go to the game . . she and Addie would pick me up. I asked Vince if he would drive me to the main highway so they wouldn’t have to come to the house and he said yes so that’s what they did. We got to the end of the road close to our house and they were coming over the hill so it was perfect timing.
We went to the game, then told Addie she could pick where we wanted to eat. She wanted sushi. I had not brought my purse but stick $50 in my pocket. No . . we can’t eat sushi for $50 and that’s all the cash I brought. Then she decided she wanted to eat at Chick-Fil-A. Nicole and I agreed but then I realized it was Sunday and they’re closed. Then she said she wanted to eat at Jimmy John’s. Nicole and I agreed but then Addie saw a billboard for Cane’s and she wanted to go there so that’s where we ate.
Then we went to T. J. Maxx. Addie and Nicole both wanted new pants so they tried on clothes and I gave my opinion. They both found two or three pairs of paints. Then we came home. Nicole had brought her Halloween outfit . . which is a dress . . it was a blue gingham dress with puffy sleeves. Dorothy from Wizard of Oz? I have no idea. It needed some alterations. The back had several rows of elastic thread sewn across but it was too big on Nicole and poofed out so I measured across her back, took lingerie type 1/4″ elastic, stretched it and zig zagged all the way across it. She was so happy and thought I was the most amazing seamstress. 🙂
Then I told her I thought the “straps” were too long because they were a bit floppy so I fixed those. Then when she leaned over, the front kinda flopped and you could see down to her belly button. I told her I needed to lower the raise the front on the straps so I removed big buttons that were there as trim, cut the straps off and cut about 1″ off them and sewed them back on. Then sewed the buttons back on.
Nicole said “Granny, I want to seriously come spend time with you and learn to can and sew.” That was funny because the first time Chad brought Nicole to our house, I was trying to make small talk and I said “Do you sew?” She looked at me like I had just asked her an obscene question and she said “Why would I?” OK . . I think we’ve changed her mind about that question!
Addie has a long weekend coming up and she wants to come stay here so I’ll get to see her again on Thursday if all the plans work out like we think they will.
It was a good day for the girls to be together. Addie played with Oscar til they were both exhausted. I’m betting Addie fell asleep in the car on the way home. Oscar is being somewhat calm . . that’s about all I can ask for. Chad is gone again and I think Nicole enjoyed having adult company.
Now I have to figure out what’s for dinner. Vince said he would go get a pizza but I think I have a better plan.

Whatever happened with your worms? Your last post on that topic you talked about setting them up and experimenting with how much to feed them.

They’re doing what they need to be doing – eating and leaving castings behind. Vince is taking care of them and all seems to be good.

It was definitely a blessing for me to get to spend time with them. Once my grandparents got to the age where they needed to be closer to my mom and uncle, they moved to Lake Charles. Chad was 1 or 2 and we would go by often to see them. Every time we left, my grandma would follow us out and say “Y’all come back ANY TIME!” Now I realize how much she cherished the time she spent with us and I wish we had gone by to visit them every day.

Judy, I had been thinking I hadn’t seen an Addie post lately. So glad you got to spend the day with her and Nicole!

I knew sooner or later she was going to get to be too “busy” for spending time with me. I had hoped it would be later but it was sooner. I’m thankful for any amount of time I get to spend with Chad, Nicole and Addie . . even though it’s never enough time in my opinion (and probably too much time in their opinion!).
