I ordered the Honest Kitchen food for Rita and Oscar, though Oscar won’t start on it til he finishes off this last bag of puppy food. I ordered the food directly from Honest Kitchen and it just shipped yesterday. They had a banner across their web page that due to high demand, their orders were taking about 5 days longer to get shipped. That was ok . . we have plenty of food for both dogs. Chewy sells Honest Kitchen, as do quite a few other places.
I had a credit at Chewy so I decided to order Boots some of their dehydrated food. Chewy has such great service. They were so nice and helpful when we called about the horrible dog food. They gave us a credit and let is send back all that brand food we have here. So, I had a credit and decided to order Boots some dehydrated food. I ordered it at about 10 p.m. on Sunday evening and I got it Monday! How is that even possible??
Yesterday I mixed up some of it and started switching Boots to the new food. 1/4 new food and 3/4 old food. The old food is dry; the new food is wet. Boots eats the new food and leaves the old food. So much for gradually making the switch. Vince went in to feed Boots this morning and he only gave him the dry food and he said Boots sat down and looked at him like “No! Not eating that! Where’s the good stuff?”
Boots loves the new food. Boots has a tendency to overeat so we aren’t able to leave food out for him all day. I feed him in the morning, sometime around 1 or 2 and then when I put him up for the night. Every time I got out of my chair yesterday, he ran to his food bowl and sat there like he thought that was going to make me feed him more. I’m glad he likes it and am hoping Rita and Oscar will like theirs as much. I think they will. I think Oscar is tired of the puppy food. He isn’t eating as much as he had been. I was feeding him twice a day but now, he nibbles and sometimes at bedtime, he hasn’t even finished what I gave him in the morning. He isn’t looking skinny so i’m not going to worry about it.

It’s kinda like Oscar sucks all the air out of the room. Boots is kinda like Angie mentioned in the comment above. If he’s downstairs, he goes from the back of the sofa to the table to the back of the recliner. He will hardly get on the chair for fear of Oscar surprising him. Rita doesn’t want to be held or snuggled and she doesn’t play. She’s happy just to stay away from Oscar; sleep and eat.

My Karlin loves Honest Kitchen, but since he is a rescue that was starved it is hard to tell because he will eat anything and as much as he can get. I don’t understand people who can abuse, starve and then throw the poor dog from a moving car, that is what happen to Karlin before I got him. Karlin only weighed, 12 lbs when we got him and now weighs 19 lbs, he weigh more if I let him. My husband says Karlin wakes up each morning and thinks I am in heaven. He is really very spoiled, but I don’t care. Please let me know home Oscar and Rita like Honest Kitchen.

Same with Rita. She lived on acorns and no telling where she found water til we were able to catch her in a trap. People who do that . . I have no words that I would use to convey how I feel about them.
I will post about the food. It’s going to be different for Oscar. He’s been on puppy food and I think he’s tired of that. Rita has been eating homemade food for 8 years but we were adding storebought high protein food to add to what I make = 30% of that to 70% what I make. I don’t think Rita will notice much difference. I had freeze dried some of my food and have reconstituted that for a time and it looks a lot like what the Honest Kitchen cat food looks like after being reconstituted.
