Yesterday we spent way too much time in town. We had several stops and one of them was over near the pallet store. That’s not the name of the place but I don’t even know the name of it. Vince wanted to go by there and see if they had any coffee. He often finds great deals on coffee so we went by there. They didn’t have any coffee. Vince found several items but I kinda hit the jackpot.
The first thing I found was an Impact Theory Journal. It’s just lined paper, no dates, no prompts, just lined paper in a nice little book with a magnetic closure.
I write a lot and I have different journals for different things. Even though I write in my Book of Days about my cross stitching, my stitching journal is where I really write about my cross stitching. I keep separate journals for my gardening, cross stitching starts and finished, cross stitching daily progress (what I worked on, if I ordered anything, flosstubes I watched); one book has the linens and charts I’ve ordered, even though I keep the charts listed on the X-Stitch Plus app on my phone. On a personal level, I keep a journal of daily activities – funny or sad things that happened – kinda like the blog but more personal. I keep a prayer journal.
I keep “Morning Pages” where I set a timer and write for 10 minutes every morning. No topic – just whatever the first thing is that comes to my mind when I wake up . . that gets turned into a 10 minute writing. So, I love these little journal type books.
The pallet store had these books for $4 each. They’re regular $16 but I’m not even sure Impact Theory is still producing them. I was happy to find these.
The second find was pretty nice too. I had met back up with Vince and we were making our way to check out. I had been up and down every row but then I looked over at a box – just a cardboard box with one little sticker on it. I picked it up and realized it was a sous vide container.
The box was all taped up so I carried it to the front and asked the guys to open it and make sure it wasn’t broken. It’s just a hard plastic and the first one I had ordered from Amazon arrived broken. I find that these things are really useful when using the sous vide. This package included the container, the insulating sleeve, the rack, the lid and a cookbook. At Amazon, the regular price is $59.99 and it’s on sale for $49.99. I got it for $4.
I was pretty excited about my finds! No, I’m not going to want to go to the pallet store every week!

Some good buys! We had a similar store open just this week – about 3 blocks from my house. DaaBin Store is the name of it. I haven’t gone there yet, but saw pictures from their grand opening and it was quite literally wall to wall people. I’ll wait until the novelty has worn off to check it out.

Great finds – I usually check out the back to school sales for good prices on pens and notebooks.
On another topic – how cold did it get last night? It made it to 30 here in OKC, but the NE corner of OK was in the teens. But, it will be mid 80s by Friday. I haven’t turned on the heat since I prefer to sleep in a cool room underneath a quilt, or many quilts! I also have a little portable heater to use in case I need to fight any chill.

It was 21 when I checked the weather but that was after 7. The upstairs was 60 when I got up but the downstairs was 64,but I knew I was going to start baking and cooking and that would heat up the house so we never turned the heat on.

Yes! I love the thin spiral bound notebooks that used to be .10. I buy about 30 of those when they go on sale. I also use a lot of the disposable mechanical pencils so I buy those. Vince loves pens so I count on him to check out the back to school sales (which are best after school has just started) and keep us stocked with ink pens.

What is the name of the pallet store? Or is it just “The Pallet Store”? I’m going to see if we have any nearby.

The one here is called Daily Deals but they all have different names. They’re owned by individuals. Good luck finding one.

Sounds like you really did hit the jackpot, and to make it better, I’m betting Vince was just as happy with whatever he found, even if it wasn’t coffee.

I tried looking up “pallet store” here in Escondido, and found that there are a lot of places where I can buy wooden pallets!

There are lots of crafty things that are made with pallets. 🙂
I think the first store of this type that we heard about was called “The Pallet Store” because everything came in on pallets – they never what each pallet would contain. I think the one here is called “Daily Deals”
