I think I’ve mentioned that we’ve been stopping by a little hamburger place in town where they have 5 cheeseburgers for $12 (I think that’s the price). They’re not like White Castle or any of those burgers. They’re just lie regular hamburgers but smaller. This place has been in Joplin forever – the old timers all know about it but we just found out about it a month or so ago.
I told Vince . . I can come close to making those at home so yesterday was the day I tried. We knew the patty was somewhere between 2 and 3 ounces but they have a machine that makes them all very, very thin.
I had about 14 oz. of ground beef in the package I grabbed so I made six patties somewhere between 2.2 ounces and 2.4 ounces. I grilled the onions and I think they use smaller buns but Aldi was out of hamburger buns except for the brioche and a croissant type bun. They were also out of bacon and butter . . not that I needed either but I noticed that.
At the hamburger place, they use some kind of yellow cheese but all I had was Swiss or Pepper Jack so I went with Pepper Jack. They put mustard, onions (you have to ask for them to be grilled) and dill pickles on their burgers.
I’m going to make these again as soon as I find smaller buns. It was a nice change from the big, fat burgers we usually make at home.
I know I can’t but I could eat a good hamburger every day! Is that because I love them or because I know I can’t?

I found slider buns at Walmart awhile back.

The ones in the restaurant are bigger (in size) than sliders but the meat is about the same weight. I think I’ve seen smaller buns at Walmart but if not, I will get the sliders. Thanks.!

Pepper Jack makes such a good cheeseburger! Good choice. I saw slider buns at my local Walmart the other day.

There’s not much that equals a GOOD burger! But can’t have that all the time.

Sister Schuberts rolls, found in the freezer section, make good slider buns.

I bought several different rolls at Walmart today. We’re trying to duplicate the ones at the burger joint here but I can see how Sister Schuberts rolls would be great. We love those.
