Vince is always telling me “You’ve ruined this dog!” because Oscar really loves me and gets so excited when I come into the room or play with him. I’ve explained to Vince that I’m the one who feeds Oscar; I take Oscar out; we have little bedtime chats before I put Oscar up for the night; I’m the one who gets him out of the kennel in the morning; we go for our morning walk. Oscar loves Vince too and he’s fine with Vince when I’m out of the house.
Today I had a three hour dentist appointment so I was gone from home probably four hours. I came home and I was wearing a jacket but I still looked like me. Oscar came running up to me, barking like he was going to bite me, hair raised up on his back, then he ran back like he was afraid of me. Then back at me barking again. I was saying “Oscar . . it’s me! Come here!”
After just a minute or so, he realized it was me, ran up to me and was so excited I was home, he peed on my shoe and on the floor. Thank goodness again, it was the tile floor so . . once again, I got to mop the floor with Clorox.
Sometimes I wonder if that dog is right!

Hahaha! That’s too funny! Poor Oscar…from feeling threatened to exhilaration in such a short period of time…his poor bladder just couldn’t handle it! LOL!!!

He cracks me up every single day . . even when I’m having to mop up his little mess.

I find this very funny. Not because of the situation you are in, but because my own dog does this to an extent ??. She will do it just from me going to get the main and walking back up to the house. I live in the country, so having a small dog (miniature schnauzer) I don’t let her run around the property. We tie her out under a full cover tree so the eagles can’t swoop down and snatch her up. She will watch me walk out to the mailbox and then bark at me like I am a stranger when I walk back up the lane. She is not a barker at all. Nothing like a normal miniature schnauzer. She will bark at my husband sometimes when he gets home too. So funny.

This made me smile as Oscar recognizes you as the alpha in the house! One of my sisters has 2 dogs and they think she is the alpha too even though my BIL does the fun stuff with them. Our dog sees my husband as the alpha. He has an even stronger connection since my husband retired but he had always recognized him as the alpha.
