This is specifically about the needles recommended for 46 and 56 count linen.
These are the needles I have and all of them came as a recommendation from either a shop or a friend who stitches on these counts:
- John James Short Beading Embroidery. I’m guessing the “012” means these are size 12??
- John James Ball point Bead Embroidery – size 10
- Bohin “Sewing Beads” – size 10
I feel like whatever needles I like best are what’s best but was wondering what others use with these two counts of linen.
As far as needles for other counts of linen, I’ve used just about every needle out there. Remember, this is just my opinion. Every single needle that is not my favorite . . I have a good cross stitch friend or two who love those so please try every needle if you don’t have a favorite. I use a size 28 since I mostly stitch 40 count linen.
Sullivans Easy Guide:
These were my favorites in the beginning and I don’t mind using those but they’re no longer the first needle I reach for.
John James:
Even the size 28 seems so big. Not my favorite. I have a few and sometimes I reach into the needle container and pull one out and I think . . I have them, I might as well use them, but after a few stitches, I give up and go back to my favorite needle.
There are other needles but these are the three I’ve tried.
Piecemakers:
My favorite! I love their needles.

Judy. Have you tried John James petites size28? I loved them for 40ct. Piece makers are my other preferred needles as well.

I do have some and I have tried them but didn’t like them. One thing I do know . . when you’re used to one thing and switch, it takes a while to get the full benefit so I may need to try them again for a week or so. Thanks!

I use 28 ct petite needles. If I use anything else I feel like I have a dagger in my hand. LOL. HUGS,

Yes — a dagger. That’s what some of them feel like.

Thanks for your information! Awhile back I bought a bunch of different type of needles to try and then I went and mixed them up so I have no idea what I’m using! I will look for the Piecemakers and try them.
