Yesterday, I thought we were staying home all day. Wrong!
Tuesday night I was telling Vince that the next time he’s out, we need more butter. He loves going shopping . . doesn’t matter what he’s buying . . he’s so happy when he’s shopping! I decided to check prices and as it turned out, Sam’s had the best prices on butter. I usually buy 5 or 6 pounds at a time and keep it in the freezer but since we’ve been hearing about shortages, I figured with Thanksgiving and Christmas baking coming up, I’d get 10 pounds. There was about a 40 cent difference in the prices of butter at Aldi, Walmart and Sam’s so I wasn’t going to worry about who was the cheapest . . I was going to get butter at the closest place . . which is Walmart.
Vince said there were a few things he needed from Sam’s but he didn’t want to go to town on Wednesday. Fine. I told him . . whoever goes out first can get butter. There’s no rush.
Got up yesterday morning, fixed breakfast, cleaned the kitchen, started cross stitching and Vince came downstairs and said “Let’s go to Sam’s.” What? I thought we were staying home today but . . we ended up going to Sam’s. We got the butter, got a few treats for Oscar, got a pack of tuna steaks, got a couple of packages of chicken breasts, got a package of 12 really nice pork chops that were “use or freeze by” yesterday and it was marked way down so I got that. We always have a cooler in the car so we stuck all the cold stuff in the cooler and stopped by Chipotle’s for lunch. Came home. Unpacked everything and got the cold stuff put away. Went back downstairs and started cross stitching. The doorbell rang.
Vince went upstairs and it was the guy who’s going to stain the fence so Vince went around back to look at the fence with him. I walked out to get some clothes off the line and saw the neighbor out. The fence stainers will either be on his property or very close so I wanted to make sure he was ok with that – I knew he would be but I felt like the courteous thing to do was let him know in advance.
While talking to the neighbor, the doctor called and said I have to start taking the Rx strength of Vitamin D again and he had faxed the prescription to our pharmacy. About an hour later, I still had not received a fax that the Rx was ready but figured it was so we went and it wasn’t. Their fax wasn’t working so they didn’t even have anything from the doctor. Called the doctor and he called it in but it was going to be an hour before it was ready. I told Vince . . let’s just go home and we’ll come back and get it tomorrow. Nope . . we’re not going anywhere tomorrow. We went over to Walmart and shopped a bit there. I needed fresh ginger because I use that to marinate tuna steaks. Our Walmart had been out of distilled water for a while and Vince uses that in his CPAP. They were restocked so we bought a few gallons of the water. As always, we ended up with a cart full of stuff we didn’t even know we needed. 🙂
Got the Rx and finally got home!
I had left chicken cooking with the sous vide so I had to shred all that, get it packaged and in the freezer.
The day surely didn’t go as I had planned but we got things done that needed to be done and Vince has said he isn’t leaving the house til at least Monday. I wouldn’t bet on it but I hope that’s true. At least being out and about so much yesterday kept me from being tempted to cross stitch.
