You would think I would learn but I always think I can get so much more done than I actually get done. It isn’t just with cross stitching but with everything I do.
I fully expected that I would finish A Sampler For All Seasons and I could have had I not stopped to work on Love is the Key.
A Sampler For All Seasons:
This is by The Scarlett House and is not available in shops at the current time. It was a project exclusively for the Homespun Needlework (cross stitch and samplers) group on Facebook.
I started this on September 1 and this is how far I got. The reason I stopped was because the bottom left house, or the Summer House, was white. You can see the deer and rabbit playing in the snow in the upper left house and the white just barely shows up. I didn’t want to do a lot of stitching on a whole house and have it barely show up so I wanted to use a different color floss. I am using NPI Silks and don’t have many extra colors so I had to order floss and wait for it to arrive.
So, while waiting, I put this project away and got out Love is the Key.
Love is the Key:
This is a project Teresa Kogut released at the spring market, 2022. I told her I would stitch as much as I could in about a month’s time, send it to her and she could take it to display. I got the outline of the border done, and the two rabbits done.
As of last night, I got the center flower stitched, most of the fill in work for the top border, some of the fill in work for the right side border, and four of the five flowers on the bottom right stitched.
There’s still a lot to get done. There’s a red flower above the white flowers, then I have to stitch the white flowers and the red flower to the left of the lady; there’s a curvy border I’ve started near the white flowers. That goes all the way across the bottom. There are two birds on top of the center flowers. The urn has to be completed for the center flowers. The heart near the boy bunny has to be stitched. All the fill in work for the left and bottom border has to be stitched. Finally, there’s another row of alphabet and numerals to stitch above the bunnies.
I plan to stick with this and get it finished, then go back to A Sampler For All Seasons. My guess is that finishing these two will take me all of October.
Even though I finished nothing, I feel like I got a lot of stitching done in September.

I managed to finish 3 samplers in September which was not expected. I started them in January. I tend to do that, finish a couple at a time. I don’t have a formal rotation but I do have pieces that I unconsciously focus on and rotate. I’m definitely a process stitcher so a finish is always sort of unexpected to me!

Three finishes is great and the fact that they were started and finished in 2022 is super nice. Congratulations!
