I so rarely go to town by myself but this morning I was determined I was going out without Vince. I appreciate that he wants to go with me but there’s no such thing as a quick stop with Vince. He wants to look at everything, walk down every aisle and though he doesn’t truly care what I spend (simply because he doesn’t know EVERYTHING), I hate it when he asks me how much I spent and then gets frustrated with the cost. I know he’s just complaining about how much everything costs but I feel like he’s thinking . . we’re retired . . you should not be spending that much!
My first stop was one of the dollar stores. A friend had told me they had more shelf stable boxed whole milk so I wanted to get a bit of that. They were already out.
Next stop was the bank. Did that.
Next stop was the print shop to have a book spiral bound. Did that. While waiting for the book to be done, I grabbed my phone . . oh, no . . not my phone. I had Vince’s phone. They’re almost the same and have the same color case, which probably was not a good idea. I knew if he needed to use his phone, he would not be happy to not have it so I got my book and went back home.
I had still planned to go by the post office, go to Hobby Lobby for a few skeins of DMC, go by Merle Norman for a tube of foundation and stop by Walmart for carrots and celery to make beef stew to can this week. None of those stops happened.
To make matters worse, our internet went off about 6 a.m. and was off til almost 3 p.m.
Vince was out working on a compost bin and needed my help. It was 94 degrees out and we were working in the sun. I finally told him . . I can’t do this! He said “Want to go get a hamburger?” Of course I do! We went to the place in Carthage that has the burgers like we got south of Joplin Saturday. I think I’m hooked on those things! They’re so good and you get 5 burgers for $10. I told Vince . . forget buying groceries. I’ll cook on Sunday (when the burger place is closed) and we’ll have burgers the other six days!
Probably not a healthy choice and I’m pushing my luck having had two little burgers on Saturday and two more on Monday so I’ll need to wait at least a week before I eat them again. You can see there’s just a bit of grease there and that’s what will cause my allergy to react.
Then Vince said “Since we’re in town, want to go by Aldi, Walmart and Lowe’s?” I told him I’d go by Aldi and get carrots and celery, I didn’t want to go to Walmart and he could go to Lowe’s but I was staying in the car! That man does love to shop!
We both came home and took 2 hour naps. Not sure if it was the heat or the shopping (or the grease) that got to us but we were both tired. Hopefully I can stay up tonight and get some stitching done.
