After planning the design I’d use on either side of the house and charting the flowers, I changed my mind again. My first plan was to stitch one flower on the left side of the house and a dog that represents Oscar. On the right side of the house I was going to stitch two flowers, both in the urns.
I kept thinking about Oscar and how he loves to chase bugs and about the dragonflies he’s played with in the back yard so I stitched a little bug above him, then a dragonfly on the right side of the house which meant one of the two flowers had to be shorter. After deciding to stitch the dragonfly, I thought about stitching Rita beneath the dragonfly but then Boots would have been left out so I just left it with Oscar.
Hopefully I’ll decide on a verse to stitch beneath the house, get that charted and stitched by the end of the month. I’ll put this away at the end of August and stitch on Scarlett September during the month of September.
I think I’m going to leave Ellen Carr’s name off completely since I’ve gone so far from how her sampler was originally designed to be stitched.

I like what you did! Maybe you can put Boots and Rita on future samplers.

At some point, I may create a family sampler of sorts and include them, as well as Chad, Nicole and Addie.

Hmm, your insects could use some bright colors, but perhaps you prefer them to look alike.

Well, I have just about every color floss so if I had wanted them to be bright, they would have been bright. 🙂

Judy, I’m really curious. You spent years quilting, then started knitting and stopped quilting. After knitting for years, you started cross stitching and stopped knitting. Of the three, do you love cross stitching the most? Do you miss knitting or quilting? Do you think you’ll ever stop the stitching and go back to just quilting or just knitting again? Or maybe have projects in all three at once? I knit, crochet and quilt and have projects in all of them going at the same time, so I’m wondering!!!

Good grief, Carolyn! That’s a lot of questions! 🙂
And I can’t answer answer any of them. The best thing I can do is give you a rough timeline of my history before you knew me.
Wait . . it’s long. I’ll do it in a blog post.

This is a very interesting question and one I wonder about too! I am a quilter and a knitter. I have done cross stitching, needle point and crocheting in the past but quilting and knitting are my passions but not at the same time. I do one or the other but not both at the same time. Interesting how we are all different!
