It won’t be long til September 1. Can you believe how quickly time passes? I can’t.
In the cross stitch world, one of the larger events is Sampler September. Last week I started going through some of my samplers to decide which one I wanted to work on. Honestly, I had planned to spend the whole month working on A Changed World but . . I pretty it somewhere really safe. You know the rest of that story! When Oscar came along, I put all my projects that were on scroll frames up on top of a tall cabinet. That was about in February but my May, we were keeping the curtains/blinds open and the scroll frames were close enough to the window I was afraid they were going to fade so I moved them . . to a very safe spot and for the life of me, I cannot find any of them. They’re here and some day I’ll come across them.
So, I was torn between finding one sampler I wanted to start and hope to finish by the end of the month or starting a new one every Monday, work on that project for a week, then start another one the next Monday.
Last week on Facebook someone mentioned they were going to make a “Scarlett September” and stitch on The Scarlett House charts.
The Scarlett House is one of my favorite designers and when I read that post on Facebook, I thought . . that’s what I’m doing! Scarlett September! I wanted something there was a chance I could finish in one month so here are a few I was considering.
Yesterday, a new chart arrived. That’s my answer! In the Homespun Needleworks group on Facebook, several times a year, exclusive kits are offered. The best designers team up with an outstanding shop to offer these kits. It’s always exciting to see what the new kit will be.
The current kit is A Sampler For All Seasons by The Scarlett Houses, which is perfect for my Scarlett September. Instead of making a two sided pin keep, I think I’ll stitch two separate little pillows. The linen is from Needle & Flax and her linen is extremely hard to come by so I’m thrilled to have the whole kit.
I love stitching houses. I love stitching the words. I’m going to enjoy this project so much!

I was just thinking about Sampler September projects yesterday. Do I start a simpler one that I know I might be able to finish in the month (tho that’s not really my goal to pick one I can finish) or one of the gorgeous Brenda Keyes samplers in my stash? I did order more DMC for the Brenda Keyes samplers yesterday but haven’t really decided. I may need to post the options on my blog and see what others would start if they were me.

I’ll start a Brenda Keyes project with you any time you’re ready but you know I won’t keep up!

I’m 99% sure I’ll work on one for Sampler September but I’ll probably start it towards the end of this month when the floss arrives. The fun is in the plotting, planning, gathering supplies and starting. Who cares if one person keeps up with the other, or starts other projects in the meantime. 🙂

I love the plotting and planning best of all and I especially love it when you’re doing it with me. 🙂

I love that sampler! I wonder when it will be available for the rest of us. When I went to 123 for the thread you mentioned, I also purchased a number of other items. I needed floss for another project and they didn’t have all the colors so I went to the shop that supplied everything for the Red Bird Sampler stitch along you and Jo are running. Seeing the progress folks are posting made me regret not ordering the kit so I decided to order it. lol Also, about a week ago I had stopped in The Shepherd’s Bush for floss and fabric for Teresa Kogut’s Bee Kind and I saw Rejoice Evermore by Brenda Gervais. I fell in love with it so I decided to kit that up right then and there. So, which one do I start? It might depend on what comes up on WIPGO but I still have time to decide. (I just went looking for my Bee Kind chart and can’t remember what I did with it!) That’s the perfect one if I want a finish!

I also ordered this kit, all I had do was join the FB group. I hope it comes soon.

I really love that Sampler For All Seasons! I can sympathize with misplacing your projects. I purchased three Prairie Schooler Santa charts and can’t find them anywhere.
