I haven’t made a lot of friends here. I have a friend down the road but she’s busy and we don’t see each other often. I know if I need something I can call her. We have Angie and Jeremy not far away and if we need anything, we can call them. Vince and I do pretty much everything together but I do miss “girl time”.
I think I’ve mentioned this before but last month at the Azure pickup, I noticed a lady I hadn’t seen at previous pickups. Everyone was busy getting their orders and those of us who don’t know the others don’t have much interaction. After we got our order, we went to the Mennonite market in Carthage. The lady I had seen at the pickup location was there. I said “I just saw you at the Azure pickup!” We started talking and we were instant friends. We kept talking and Vince was ready to go. We kept talking and Vince was saying he was going to leave without me. She and I exchanged phone numbers.
We’ve texted fairly often through the last few weeks. She loves canning and has a grain mill and loves baking bread. We watch the same videos, like the same foods. It’s been an interesting journey to becoming good friends.
Yesterday, since I knew Vince would be busy with the fence builders, the friend and I planned to meet for lunch. We met at a local restaurant at 11:30. We ate and we talked and talked and talked. We were there FOUR hours! A man sitting near us ordered fajitas not long before we left. They smelled so good. I told her “If we don’t leave, I’m going to have to order dinner!”
When I got in the car, I called Vince and told him I was just leaving the restaurant. He said “You’re sh***ing me!” Nope. He said “What have y’all been doing?” Talking . . just talking.
I enjoyed it so much and I think she did too. We’re going to have to do it again soon. I needed that girl time. I needed to know there’s someone out there that seems kinda normal and we have so much in common. During those four hours, I definitely got my batteries recharged!

Isn’t it amazing when you find someone who laughs at the same things you do, likes doing the same things, and has time to talk to you? Good Luck with that new friend!

I have had a few of those 4 hour lunches!! The time flies and like Vince said, “What have you been doing all that time!?”.
I do almost everything with my hubby, too, but a girlfriend is a wonderful thing!
Glad you found a kindred spirit, Judy.

There is nothing like having a good friend you can have a 4 hour lunch with and not realize it’s been 4 hours! I have friends like that, but I don’t get to see them very often lately. I’m going to have to work on that… 🙂

I was thinking you were doing well. It seems you’re always taking someone this or getting that from someone… I guess those are just “friendly”s. How wonderful to find someone so simpatico!
