A Hobby Lobby Stop

Yesterday I had told Vince I was going to stop by Hobby Lobby and pick up some floss. After leaving the restaurant, I was tempted to just go home but figured Vince would be aggravated that I had said I needed floss and didn’t stop and get it because I sat too long and laughed and talked at the restaurant so I walked around in Hobby Lobby for a while. It’s always so fun to go in there unsupervised.

I understand that most of the stuff in there is imported and cheap and the price is inflated so the 50% off sales bring the prices down to almost being a good price but, with the 50% off sale, it’s fun to get a lot of “stuff” for decorating.

I did get my floss!

Then I found this Whitewash Wood Pallet Pumpkin on sale for $10.99 (SKU 5113493). I think it’s a bit of a stretch to call this one a pumpkin but in today’s world, I suppose we can call things whatever we want to call them so . . a whitewash wood pallet pumpkin it shall be.

I also got these two pumpkins.

I’m thinking I might use some chalk paint and paint the pallet pumpkin piece orange (similar to the orange pumpkin above) and maybe use some black or gold and grunge it up a little, then mount the Stitching Witches on foamcore, add magnets and stick it on this piece. If I don’t like it orange, I can always paint it some other color.

I may get a different ribbon to put on it or, after it’s orange, I may leave the bow off completely. I ordered some little scarecrows and pumpkins that I might could sit on top. This piece will sit on a shelf or on top of a cabinet.

I really like the idea of using magnets to for seasonal things I can remove and change so we’ll see how that goes. I did order a couple more of the pallet pumpkins because those little white pallet “boxes” will be good for spring designs too. I can always remove the “stem” and no one will ever know it was once a pumpkin (because . . really . . it is NOT a pumpkin but I’m not telling Hobby Lobby that!) 🙂

In a video Teresa Kogut showed yesterday, she had a Halloween piece mounted on that striped pumpkin and she said “I got this at Hobby Lobby last year. They may have them this year so . . get them while you can” so . . I did. The short one (shown above) is SKU 205738091 and a taller one is SKU 105738091. Their price (either size) while on sale is $7.99 each.
