Oscar is now 8 months old. I was expecting him to calm down a bit by now. He hasn’t . . not one bit. He’s funny. He makes us laugh but he’s a handful.
Last night I was cross stitching. I have my floss in a small zipper pouch and I literally keep it behind my back in my chair because in a mere fraction of a second, Oscar can jump in my chair, grab my floss and take off like a streak of lightning.
Vince was sitting on the floor with him, they were “playing”. In reality, Vince was watching something on TV and Oscar was trashing anything he could find to trash. I looked down and said “He has something in his mouth!” Vince grabbed him. I threw my stitching to the side and got down to help because one of us has to hold him while the other has to try to pry open his mouth and retrieve whatever he has taken.
It was my skein of Oscar floss and as you can see . . it’s somewhat of a mess. I will try to save it today. It was wet and slobbery last night. I was stitching with this green. I had not even finished threading my needle and put the skein away. I didn’t even see him grab it.
Everyone thinks Oscar’s named after the wiener brand but he’s named after my favorite floss. Oscar (the dog) should be treating Oscar (the floss) with way more respect than this!
Maybe on his 9th or 10th or 11th birthday we’ll see a bit of maturing in that wild and crazy puppy.

Well, I figure he’s SUPER SMART! He saw his name on it and TOOK IT! LOL

Oh, I never thought about him seeing his name and thinking it was his! 🙂

He’s a boy, he’s a smooth coat and he’s a Pie Bald. Not calm qualities. It will be a couple years before he calms down. I enjoy the stories tho. Being in Dachshund Rescue for 20+ years I’ve seen it all.

Thanks for that encouraging comment! 🙂

I knew the boy made a difference but I didn’t realize smooth coat and Pie Bald made a difference in their behavior too.

I really enjoy your blog. I have a 6 month old Sheltie pup who is driving us crazy with his antics. He goes from one escapade to another with us chasing behind. Last night it was unrolling the toilet paper. Tonight I’d had about 2 hours of mischief. I’d walked him and thrown the ball trying to tire him out followed by his escapades. Finally I put him in his kennel so I could rest! Then I read your blog and laughed/cried with you. Whew!

Definitely I can relate!!
