We hit the jackpot with this little combination.
Jeremy and Angie told us about these Yak Chews and even gave us a sample to try. Their puppy is just a couple of weeks older than Oscar but she’s very well mannered compared to Oscar.
Oscar will chew and chew on these sticks and they last a very long time, even with his constant and aggressive chewing. I received these on July 22 and I think he’s only actually chewed one down so small that I took it away from him. You’re supposed to be able to microwave the small pieces, let them cook and then crumble them for a snack but I haven’t tried that yet.
I was concerned he was going to chew it down too far before I noticed and then get choked. Vince picked up his little Kong toy and stuck the stick down in there. It’s perfect! Oscar can’t get it out (neither can I) and he’s able to hold it with his paws at any angle he wants it and chew.
That’s a great combination!

I’m reminded of this blog post from Kate Davies, about the “chewing times”:

Cutie Oscar has a bone-shaped blaze on his face!

Isn’t that cute! Maybe that’s why he’s such a chewer . . a bone on his head! 🙂

Thanks. I fear I share too many Oscar stories. He’s such a hoot.
