This was a pair (notice WAS) of my favorite socks. The yarn is Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Socks and it wore so well!
I finished these in early 2018 and I’ve probably worn them at least once a month since then. The above photo is from when I had just finished them. The photo below is from yesterday.
All I can figure out is that Oscar managed to pull one through the holes in a laundry basket.
Many of my socks get put into a dough bucket and are kept in the sink in the laundry room because I hand wash them. The Shepherd Sock socks can be machine washed so they go in with the regular dirty clothes.
Yes, it COULD be fixed. No. I won’t fix it. I have a little of the yarn left for mending a small hole but I would have to rip this back from the heel all the way up to fix it. Not happening but at least I’ve learned a lesson – I’ll put a container under the sink in the bathroom and keep my socks in there instead of putting them in the regular clothes basket.

When I read the title of this post I thought – Oh no, Oscar is” in the doghouse” now! Puppies and socks can never be mentioned in the same story and have it turn out well for the socks. 🙂

Oh no!!! That’s almost worth crying about!!! When I first started sock knitting I set my knitting in my chair and went to the kitchen to check on supper. When I came back our new dog had played with it and managed to slide the needle out one side. Thankfully she didn’t destroy anything but it took me FOREVER to get the stitches turned the correct way and back on the needle. Learned my lesson. Always put it where she couldn’t get it and went the next day to buy her some toys.

And those are such pretty socks!!! I’ve never knitted my own socks, but I can imagine the amount of work that went into them…. If I thought it would do any good, I’d say Oscar needs a good tongue-lashing!!! Oscar!! Oscar!! Oscar!!!

He’s still a puppy so yes, he got a bit of a tongue lashing but he was doing what dachshund puppies do. My job is to keep things he isn’t supposed to have well out of his reach and I didn’t. I have a dirty clothes bin in the bathroom that’s solid but had put the clothes from it into the basket to go wash, set it down and left it where he could get too it for just a few minutes while I wen to do something else. He’s an opportunist! 🙂
