I’m a tender hearted wimp . . let’s just get that out of the way.
Today is the day Oscar gets neutered. I’m going to be on pins and needles til I get him back home and he’s all healed and back to his little spunky self.
He also gets his nails trimmed and he gets his microchip. I never worried much about Speck getting lost but Oscar .. that dog has way too much energy and he’s fast. Speck had some joint issues in his front legs and maybe that kept him from being so fast. We’re so careful with Oscar and he stays downstairs which hopefully helps him not escape when someone comes in the doors upstairs. We have a gate that goes from the downstairs family room to the little foyer downstairs. Then there’s a door that goes into the garage. Then there’s the garage door so hopefully, we have some backup systems to keep him from escaping.
Monday we have an electrician here working. I’m sure the garage door will be open in the garage downstairs because that’s where the electric lines for the back lights will be run. He has to add some new lights inside. Oscar will be wearing his cone of shame so I doubt we can put him in the crate. I’ll be nervous. I wish the electrician had come today while Oscar is at the vet but . . that’s not how it happened.
I’ll report back as soon as I hear from the vet.

Hi Judy, I know how you feel. My pup Savannah just got her spay surgery this past Tuesday (also got her nails trimmed and her chip inserted too). I was a nervous wreck, but she’s doing great. She’s three days post-surgery and has plenty of energy (even with her “donut” around her head) that we have to try to tame while she’s recuperating. It’s so hard to stop a little pup from jumping, running and wanting to play. Good luck with Oscar! I’m sure he’ll be back to his old self in no time!

I got Emmi a more comfortable “doughnut,” “cone of shame”–way better than the plastic ones from the vet.

I almost did. I wish now I had.

Can’t you sew up one quickly? Google “dog cone sewing pattern”, It will keep your mind off of him while he’s in surgery.
