This morning the milk man was here, right on time, about 5:50 a.m. I was up but Vince was already upstairs so he took care of getting the milk and paying the man.
We had to be in Carthage at 7:45 a.m. for our Azure Standard pickup. There are more and more people there every time we go! In my order today was potatoes, spelt, millet, durum wheat and raw pepper jack cheese.
From there, we went to Circle E, the Mennonite (type) grocery store I like. I went straight to the grain row and one of the ladies who had been at the Azure pickup was on that row and I said “Hey, I just saw you at the Azure pickup!” We started talking. Oh, my goodness! She cans. She has a mill and mills her own flour and cornmeal. She makes bread. We do all the same things. We were talking and Vince walked up. I introduced her. She told Vince “I have a new best friend.” Vince said “She has too many best friends“.
We exchanged phone numbers and I’m sure we’ll be talking more. She’s already sent me a couple of texts with links for things we talked about.
Vince and I were talking and I told him . . of all the time I spent in Texas, I don’t remember meeting anyone else who ground whole grains for their flour. Here, I already know at least six people. Not that grinding your own grains is the “be all/end all” for being a friend but it is nice to have that in common with folks since that’s such a big part of what I love doing.

I recently bought a hand grain grinder to make my own flour. I’ll probably regret getting a hand grinder, but hopefully I can just tell myself I’m exercising while making flour! 🙂

It will give you a workout but you’ll be able to grind your flour even without power.
