I was thinking of all kinds of projects I could stitch and place in the clock.
I’m going to decide what project to stitch, get it stitched, then I’m going to antique or distress the frame – do something to make it look different.
My first idea for a project is Happy Heart from the current issue of Punch Needle & Primitive Stitcher magazine. I love this magazine and look so forward to each issue.
Based on the opening for the clock face, and the stitch count on this project, I think it will be nearly a perfect fit on 40 count fabric.
I do plan to leave off the top and bottom border, move “Happy Heart up a few squares and left a few squares I may leave the fruit bowl nest of eggs (obvious to everyone but me!) off or I may move it down a few squares and right a few squares, trying to make this more “round” instead of so square.
This is my first time doing something like this so if any of you have experience and want to give suggestions, I’d appreciate it.
My plan at this point is to trace around the glass front, then cut a piece of foam core that size so I can keep checking the size of what I’m making as I go to make sure it’s going to fit.
The worst thing that can happen is that it doesn’t fit the clock and I end up making it a pillow or something – frame it, make it into a bag . . there are plenty of options.

You could also see if any of the tart patterns would fit. PSS has quite a few and they’re already round. You could also stitch Happy Heart with your modifications and if it is still too big, just adjust it in a way that is pleasing to your eye and be ok with the rest of it being unseen. You’d have some room to wiggle things around and play with balance!

OMGosh…the thing you called the fruit bowl. I thought was a nest of baby birds….hahaha

Maybe it is! That would make more sense than a fruit bowl!

I thought they were eggs!

I’m sure they are. Most of the time, those shapes are fruit bowls and I wasn’t thinking about it being anything other than a fruit bowl.

Addie is going to want one! Probably the metal one…and she is going to want interchangeable patterns! Just saying!

I’m thinking of making her something interchangeable more along the lines of the magnetic idea. I’ll have to see how hard the clock is to take a part and put back together. I’ve given her some options but so far, she likes the little pillows.
