As I’ve mentioned before, I’m one of Teresa Kogut’s Patreon members. The first of every month, she releases three charts for patreon members only. At some point down the road, most of these charts become available for purchase.
Yesterday, all three of them were screaming “Stitch me!” I kept telling myself . . I want to finish what I’m working on before I start something else but Santa’s Big Bouquet just wouldn’t stop poking me and saying “Please pick me!”
I decided if I had enough of the floss, I’d kit it up. I have all the DMC floss and have it all organized in numerical order. I could always pull from that, make a note of which ones I pulled, buy new ones and replace it in the master DMC containers. I don’t like to do that though. I have about 10 small containers that are labeled 100 – 200, 201 – 399, etc. and those are for extra DMC skeins I end up with. Not sure how I end up with extras but I do. This project calls for 15 DMC colors and one Weeks Dyeworks color. I told myself if I had at least 12 DMC colors without having to dig into the master containers, I’d kit it. I had all 15 of the DMC colors in the “extras” bins. I also had the Weeks. There’s an advantage to overbuying and having a huge nice stash.
I pulled four fabrics and did a floss toss.
Then I started the process of eliminating the fabrics I thought wouldn’t work.
DMC 712 has at least four places where it stands alone with no other colors surrounding it. My feeling is that DMC 712 would get lost on this fabric.
On this Color & Cotton Oatmeal fabric, these two colors, 612 and 370, won’t show up well.
I was concerned that those same two colors, 612 and 370, might blend with the Picture This Plus Legacy fabric but there are spots on this fabric that don’t have so much mottling and I think I can arrange the stitching so these colors are on a more solid spot and they will show up better.
There’s my final decision! PTP Legacy with all the called for colors. Not sure when I’ll start this.

Such pretty colors! Can’t wait to see it, I just love everything Teresa does. I’m going to Stitch West in October and she’ll be one of the featured designers! I’m so excited! I’m just starting to switch from bobbins to floss drops for my DMC and struggling with a good way to store them. How do you store? I’ll do a blog search after I read the last few posts to catch up so if you’ve talked about it ignore my question ?

Can’t wait to see this. Could you please show us or tell us what you do with all of your finishes? Do you have a wall specifically for cross stitch pieces? Thanks!
