Friday night before we went to bed, I asked Vince “Are we going anywhere tomorrow?” No . . Great! I can stay home all day. I’m the dumb one for even asking. Who thinks there’s ever going to be a day that he doesn’t want to go to town?
This morning I got up, and went out to water the garden. Even at 6 a.m., it was hot as blazes! I came in red faced and about to die from the heat and humidity. Vince said “Do you want to go to town?” Oh, my. I wanted to scream! NO! No! Not today. Not any day!
I try to understand . . it’s probably as hard for him to stay home all day as it is for me to leave so what can it hurt for me to go to town for a couple of hours. Took a shower, slapped on a bit of makeup and off we went.
His reasoning for going was that I had another picture printed and it was ready at Walmart. He had some kind of tubing to return to the hardware store. Of course, none of that could have waited til we for real needed to go to town! 🙂
While I went to the photo section, Vince went out to the garden center. I had asked him to meet me in the grocery section so when he came over to the grocery section, he said “You have to come see this outdoor sink!” We finished getting groceries. I think the grocery bill was like $14 so you know I didn’t need much! The outdoor sink was perfect for what I need! When we bought the cabinet that’s now in the sun room, it came with a marble-ish vanity top and a bathroom type sink and Vince was going to use that to make an outdoor sink. This one only needs to be put together and it has the faucet already so I’ll be able to use this one as soon as he puts it together.
I’ll keep it just outside the door from the downstairs garage and it will be closer to go there to get water than having to walk from the garage to the downstairs bathroom and get over two barricades that keep Oscar off the carpet. I can fill a pot, put it on the stove to boil to get hot water, then I can wash my jars out there or make soapy water to wipe the jars down after they’ve finished in the canner.
It isn’t perfect but it’s much better than trying to figure out a way to get plumbing into the garage . . which wasn’t ever going to happen. Also, we can drain the water into the garden and flower beds. Of course, I won’t leave paper towels out there but I can keep a roll right by the garage door and we’ll use those for super messy cleanups and I can keep a small tote with a recloseable lid with the shop towels for using for other purposes.
I’m so pleased Vince found that sink. It was worth a trip to town . . glad I didn’t complain about going!

What is on the bottom shelf? I don’t mean the copper looking item! Thanks. The whole thing looks like a useful addition for you!!

Looking at the picture, I think on the left is a bag of Maple Bourbon wood chips and on the right is a tray like you would put meat on and the juices would drain off to a trough like thing on the sides. I think it’s a orange colored hard plastic. None of that stuff was included.

…That’s a really great find and it looks good too! I have an antique enamel coated cast iron sink outside. I love it but Donnie has never hooked water up to it. 🙁

Forgive my density, but how does water get to it? You mentioned not getting plumbing IN the garage.
That is a good find. I had been thinking you could trade off days of staying home/going out, but you wouldn’t have gotten this.
